Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about healthAbility:
healthAbility is a community-focused dental service located in Australia, renowned for its friendly and knowledgeable staff who are dedicated to providing quality care. Many clients have highlighted their positive experiences with the dental team, including specific praises for dentists like Dr. Emily and Dr. Brittany, known for their caring and comprehensive treatment approaches.
Patients have often felt comfortable during their visits, with several mentioning the superb attentiveness of the staff, such as Jefferey, a dental professional noted for his ability to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort throughout procedures. The reception team, while occasionally facing criticism for its organization, has received accolades for patience and professionalism from clients.
However, some users have expressed concerns regarding service consistency, particularly around communication about treatment plans and appointment policies. Instances of unclear instructions and reception staff's responsiveness have been noted, which healthAbility is actively working to improve.
Overall, healthAbility combines expertise with a strong commitment to patient care, making it a recommended option for dental services in the local area.
healthAbility: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I just came to have my teeth cleaned here for the first time and had some anxiety around the appointment. Jefferey was absolutely incredible. He made me feel super comfortable, talked me through each step, asked consistently if I was okay and if I had any questions about what he was doing. Highly recommended, AND ASK FOR JEFFEREY!!! Thanks guys.
Hi Shae, thank you for your feedback! We're so glad you had a positive experience and will pass on your comments to Jeffrey and the team.
Negative experience: Caution: If your child had a filling done here, you should check whether they used a white filling or an orange filling! Here’s my story: My child had a cavity in one of their teeth. First, they suggested using fluoride treatment, and we agreed to it. The doctor did some tooth grinding, which made the side of the tooth bigger. They promised that this would help us remove food more easily. Everything sounded good and reasonable to us. And we DID floss my child’s teeth every night myself. After 1-2 months, the hole seemed worse, and the gum became red, so we had to take my child back to the clinic. This time, they suggested placing a crown and inserting some rings between the teeth. However, because the hole had become larger due to the first treatment, the ring fell out the very next day. Once again, I had to take my child back to the clinic for an emergency visit to put the ring back. That night, it fell out again! When I checked it myself, I thought the hole was too big, which made the ring too loose to stay in place. So, once again, I took my child back and told them that the ring had fallen out again. And guess what? With an attitude suggesting that it was not their fault, they said they would put the ring back one more time, but if it fell out again, my child would need a filling. I told them, "It will fall out again, so please just do the filling with numbing." After the procedure was done, I specifically asked if my child needed to come back for a follow-up or any additional care. They said NO, and that everything should be fine now. We were very happy that it was finally over. I checked my child’s filling and saw that it was orange, but I didn’t think much of it—I just assumed it was a color used for baby teeth or something. Until now… two months later, the filling has fallen out! I was too exhausted to go back to this clinic, so I went to another one. And shockingly, the new dentist told me that it was a temporary filling!!! Now, my child has to get numbed again and have the filling done all over again!
Hi Nguyen, thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how frustrating this must have been for you and your child, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback. While we are unable to follow up on this case without specific details, we want to assure you that all feedback is taken seriously and used as a valuable tool for continuous improvement.
In most cases, we use Fuji VII pink as a temporary restoration, which matches the description of the filling material you mentioned. However, we understand that clear communication about treatment plans and follow-up care is just as important as the treatment itself.
Your feedback helps us refine how we explain procedures and expectations to parents, ensuring they feel fully informed every step of the way. We appreciate your input, as it helps us enhance both our clinical care and our communication with patients and families.
Negative experience: if there is no stars, I would give to them.On 28/11/24, my 82-year-old mother and I went to healthability Box Hill public dental service. During this trip, I informed the center’s front desk about my mother’s current situation. My mother's age pension application is in the process and her dentures in her lower teeth became completely unusable a week ago, a condition that prevents her from eating anything. I hope they can give my mother meaningful help. The front desk suggested that we can apply for a temporary healthcare card. We immediately applied to centrelink, but were told that there was no such card. Subsequently, I applied for a commonwealth senior health care card. On 02/12/24, we contacted the center again and informed them that we had just received the Commonwealth senior health care card. We needed to arrange public dental service for my mother ASAP. The front desk repeatedly stated to us that the center does not accept this card. On 03/12/24, we made complain to the manager Mrs. Phil of the service center about the appeal, but the manager repeatedly clarified to me that the fact I had confirmed was that the senior card and the senior health card were different, and it was not clear whether the senior health card could be used. In the course of the matter, the experience and opinions of the front desk and manager were consistent, that is, to apply for a temporary health card, the senior health card cannot be used. The manager specifically asked me to bring the physical senior health card to the center to confirm in person whether it can be used. In this case, the center’s service staff had no work experience and did not know the specific information on the center’s website. Clearly stated on the website Public Dental Service You are eligible for public funded dental services if you are: An adult who holds a healthcare or pensioner concession card. If staff do not know the policies and specific conditions of their workplace, how can they provide effective services to their clients? I believe not only me have this issue, we are not trained to know the terms and conditions about healthability service. But, the staff works at the place where they are well trained and qualified for their job, at least, they should know the basic things.

Fantastic experience: Take my two girls there , very good docs, not expensive and the whole place includes everyone from all ages and backgrounds. Only down fall reception layout is horrible waiting in line from all different areas, minor issue but an issue everyone waiting and nil order.
Hi Effie, thank you very much for your positive review and helpful feedback!
Fantastic experience: Dental: Dr Emily is a legend. Particularly because she managed to get my 3 year old to sit in a dentist chair and get an exam. That is something precious. But also cos we been her patients for a while and she's great
Thanks for your great review Ana! We really appreciate your positive feedback.
Negative experience: Rude behaviour of one of the receptionist
Negative experience: I came in last week to go to dentist. Before sitting down in the waiting room I was told to put on a mask. Both ladies at reception didn't have one on most of others walking in and out of reception area no masks most of people in waiting room didn't either. Most of the workers walking in from breaks didn't have a mask on. The workers coming out to call patients don't have masks on. People taking up their forms to reception no masks. Get into dentist and the main dentist lady walking around with no mask. Watching other people come in with no mask on but nothing said to them I don't know why I was only targeted to wear a mask

Fantastic experience: Dentist are really good and nice
Negative experience: Terrible patient care and service. Called to make an appointment with the dentist for my little one and was told I need to pay a $40 deposit to secure an appointment as I couldn't come to the last one (an appointment I called and cancelled for as my son had a fever). Or would the clinic rather me have brought my feverish child to the clinic and infect everyone? Immediately made an appointment at an alternative paediatric dentist. Appalling patient treatment.

Positive experience: The instruction at the reception is very unclear. Being told to wait in different lines every time, and I do not even think it is an issue that need to be addressed by the reception lady loudly. Other than this, the dentist team are very friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Had to wait an hour while the dentist had lunch, made me pay and for the third time and 3rd tooth was told she can't do a filling and takes off the wrong sharp bit, tells me we don't do much here, only really bad emergencies.what a scrappy dentists . Now I have 13 teeth and 3 half teeth, no money, no job, can't eat much and she tells me to go private for fillings, I going to chew my wrist out, I can't though because of my teeth.

Fantastic experience: Genuine people that care.
Negative experience: Went in to get a cavity filled, the dentist did not care to fix it properly, did a rushed job and put in a temporary filling and told me to come back another time, it may need a route canal, the most painful dental experience ever. The next appointment was a months wait, when i went in the next dentist said, its just a filling, so she put a permanent filling in, when she finished she told me that at the base of the tooth there is a hairline crack and that i would feel pain when eating hard foods like peanuts, i just wanted to get out of there, very painful experience again and confused to what i was told. Now i have permanent pain whenever i eat, they left me with a cracked tooth and permanent pain, when i rang again and spoke to the receptionist, she just said come in and they will probably just extract it. The receptionists there are very, very rude. No way, a simple filling turned into 2 appointments, a lot of pain, many injections, my tooth drilled 2 times and never fixed properly and now i have to live in pain or lose my tooth, i will never go back there, how can qualified dentists leave someone with a cracked tooth not once but twice, horrible place, horrible dentists probably with fake qualifications and horrible rude and arrogant receptionists, the place should be closed down, I felt very depressed after the experience there, bad place.
Thanks Why icare for contacting us. We are concerned by your experience using our dental services and would like to investigate this further. We assure you that all of our dentists are qualified and our clinic meets strict guidelines set by the Victorian Department of Health. If you could contact us on [email protected] with your date of birth, name and address we can look into care plan, sincerely Carrington Health.
Negative experience: The dentists are really nice and good, but two of the receptionists are too rude! I had an appointment a while ago, got there 20mins late and they charged me 10$ to give me a second appointment, today I went in 15mins early for my X-ray appointment and they said the radiographer just went home and I have to get another appointment for another day!!!! They didn't even bothered themselves to give me a call and tell me about the cancellation before I go there, and didn't even apologise for wasting my time today!!!
Fantastic experience: I can only say good things about this place. The receptionist are so friendly. And my awesome mental health worker is so caring. I dont know what i would do without this place.
Fantastic experience: Professional
Fantastic experience: In the last 2 weeks I have been treated by a student dentist named Wen. I must say that she was such a pleasant young lady, with an excellent chair-side manner. She was also very thorough in her examination and treatment. I must also say the staff at reception have been very welcoming and professional in their approach, especially considering the variety of situations they must handle at the counter.
Negative experience: I've had a terrible experience at Whitehorse Community Centre. 1. Arrive on May 3rd @ 8:50am for a 9:00am appointment, i get told the dentist has called in sick. They called me at 8:40am from a private number (couldn't pick up cause i was driving) couldn't leave a message as my phone was playing up. Wasn't too upset about this as i know these type of things happen. 2. Given appoint for May 6th for 9:00am. Everything going smoothly til they take a mold for my broken denture that was staying in place but was hurting my mouth. In my opinion i needed a new one but was told to repair it first. They took the mold whilst still wearing the denture ? ? ? Issue was on top of the denture not underneath. Didn't ask questions as i'm not the expert here. 3. Was told by the dentist to make an appointment to come back on the same day at 4:00pm. i go back to reception to make a routine appointment but was made difficult by something that i wasn't sure of. the receptionist then went to ask someone else about it. receptionist #2 just said to come back at 4:00pm, no appointment needed. OK 4. Come back at 3:50pm, not seen til 4:20pm. Denture clearly didn't fit well. Very loose. Dentist seemed frustrated with it then called dentist from the morning. Was told blah blah and blah blah. I'm freaking out by this point. I've gont from a broken denture that fit but hurt to a denture that was apparently fixed but didn't fit. All i was thinking was WHY the mold was taken whilst i had the denture on. After some fiddling i left with the discomfort of knowing it wasn't right but i guess was going to move. This was at 5:00pm. I walked out on to the street and within 50m it comes out and is really loose. I run back and everyone is gone but the dentist. Dentist told me he can't do much now as they are closed and to come back at 8:30am, it should take just 5 minutes. I that that's fair enough by him. i had no issues with being told to come back first thing in the morning. 5. Back the next day 8:20am. 3 patients there. I get called by reception at 8:45am. I explain the situation that the dentist told me to come back. Reception went quickly to speak to the dentist, receptionist comes back was told to back me in for 12:45pm the same the day. WTF!!! I came in by request by the dentist for a 5 minute job, first thing in the morning, no one there, and then get told to come back 4 hours later. I get i'm not paying big sums of money but this is completely unfair. 6. Ring up to cancel that appointment , just couldn't get there especially knowing i won't be seen at that 12:45pm but needed to be in East Keilor at 3:30pm. Receptionist first said "you don't have an appointment" then said "you cancelled your appointment" me: HUH??? then she said "we tried to call you but couldn't leave a message and thats very frustrating for us" (me in my head:) WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT!!! I said "when, did you call, today?" RECEP: "ummmm no for the 3rd of May" (me in my head:) WHY WOULD YOU BRING IT UP THEN!!! RECEP: "so you want me to cancel your appointment?" at this point i wanted to be shot quickly as this whole process was very painful. "yes, thank you" RECEPTIONIST: "ok bye" I simply can't believe my experience. Would rather of kept my broken denture.
