Positive experience: Receptionists and nurses are lovely. Dr is ok. However they need to fix up their cancellation policy. Appointment was cancelled from them and rescheduled appointment is 2.5 months away! Ridiculous and unfair, especially considering the fact that you have already waited 2.5 months for the appointment initially. Would go to a different Dr, however already spent a fortune (clinic is expensive), and do not want to start the process over again.

Fantastic experience: Took my son to see Dr Christian Allen who went above and beyond for my son, his kindness and understanding that he showed made a big impact on his day we can’t thank him enough

Fantastic experience: I have been here since 2022 with my mom & my dad in 2024. Doctor Leigh Exelby is super helpful and she’s very understanding and knowledgeable with ppl with disabilities. I’d recommend coming here if u need a GP to go see a psychologist/counsellor, it’s the place to go to, if u have a disability and you’re struggling a lot in life.

Fantastic experience: From the minute I stepped into this clinic I instantly felt relaxed. I am travelling interstate from Melbourne for work and needed medical examination. I had dr Leigh who I can not recommend high enough. I have actually made her my GP from now on. I received a couple of other tests and every single worker was incredible making me feel safe and understand what was going on. Fantastic experience: I visited Dr. Leigh Exelby twice for some issues, and she not only provided exceptional care but also successfully resolved my problems each time. I truly appreciated her dedication and the effort she put into my treatment. Her friendly demeanor made me feel very comfortable throughout each visit. The receptionists were also kind and welcoming, contributing to a positive overall experience.

Negative experience: Some reception staff are extremely rude. Not helpful at all. I paid a lot of $$ to see Dr Chris Soo and can’t get through to the referring psychiatrist (they don’t answer ph or emails) to ask for my diagnosis letter after asking previously in the appt for it. Now have to pay $$ to see Chris Soo when I have already paid a fortune. Not very happy.

Negative experience: Had a appointment at 3:30. Waited 3 hours to be seen. Was sent home with a piece of paper telling me to fix the problem myself. Jonathan Marchand was no help. Would recommend any other doctor there

Negative experience: If you need blood results urgently, go somewhere else. Called 3 times in one day for urgent results to then be told the Dr had gone home and they didn’t get around to it. Absolutely not good enough especially when you are paying private clinic fees.

Fantastic experience: The facilities are very clean. The reception and nursing staff are always friendly and efficient. Justin Cuffe is my GP. He is gentle, caring and extremely intelligent. Careful with the Exelby lot. Yes, I am biased

Fantastic experience: I went into MCMC in early 2023 about some existing issues I had attempted to have addressed in the past with little luck, and my experience there was better than any other I'd had to date by a significant margin. As someone who has historically had difficulties with the healthcare industry, I would recommend Dr Soo - and by extension the Mermaid Central Medical Clinic - to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Been seeing Dr Soo for over 4 months for support and diagnosis with AuDHD and I couldn’t be more happy with my care. He makes me feel so comfortable, gives me space to share my concerns, asks questions to get to the bottom of symptoms and causes, and then provides educational resources and next steps to help with understanding and acceptance. I am so grateful he was recommended to me by a friend and I decided to go and see him. It’s been a life changing process, not always easy coming to terms with everything personally but he’s been really supportive throughout. Thank you Chris.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jonathan is a kind doctor. He is generous with his time. Very knowledgeable, respectful and caring. He explains everything carefully and thoroughly. Sometimes have to wait, but worth it!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr Jonathan Marchand highly enough after treating me with the utmost care and attention for over a year for numerous health conditions. He takes the time and effort to listen to to his patients, is thorough, kind and understanding, and with his international qualifications and many years of experience, has the skill and knowledge to treat what seems any condition! I am completely indebted to him for the continual support and patience he has provided to me in finding the right treatment, correct medications and answers, when other private and public specialists could not. Always knowing there was a decent and professional Doctor to rely on, was not only a relief, but has helped me to finally regain my life again. Reception and nursing staff are also always friendly and helpful which is just an added bonus - wonderful service all round!

Fantastic experience: The whole tean at Mermaid central medical centre are very helpful, i was extremely distressed as i was having shortness of breath and couldnt speak a word due to what i suspect is laryngitis, they got me straight through to see Dr Paul Fisser who was very helpful and calming, i had to catch a plane a few hours after this and it was bearable thanks to Paul. Thanks guys, home safe now :)

Fantastic experience: As a long term Gold Coast resident I’ve been a (fussy) patient at multiple medical centres. Mermaid Central is an absolute standout with a range of brilliant doctors, nurses and support staff operating out of well located, modern facilities. Paul Fisser has been my GP for more than a decade and his guidance through an unexpected cardiac emergency in 2022 was a major factor in saving my life. He will always carry my 100% recommendation.

Fantastic experience: This is a new post sitting on top of my old post below. New post May 2023 - This practice has recently made a significant and notable change. I have personally experienced a massive shift in the way this practice is run, the quality of the support staff, their ability to answer the phone and to deal with enquiries in a helpful, polite, patient orientated and efficient way. I was there yesterday and remarked on the change and ask my doctor what has happened. He responded that they had recently engaged a new practice manager. Wow, what a difference that has made, and I wish the new practice manager well and complement her (or him) on the change they have made with the staff appearing to me to be allot happier in their job. What a difference it has made. Old post a few years ago - If you want a practice that puts you on hold for 18 minutes and still doesn’t come back to you and you enjoy that type of inefficiency, then Mermaid Medical Centre is definitely the practice for you! May I suggest that you check that your telephone system is working correctly. This morning 16/10/2020 I called in response to a text message I received from you to make an appointment about a non-urgent medical report you had received. I called and was asked if I would mind holding; of course not I said. I ended up waiting online for over 18 minutes however whilst I was on that call I drove to your medical Centre and spoke to Sandi who then checked your telephone system and seeing my call was on hold hung up since by that stage I was personally standing with her at the front door of your practice. Whilst talking to Sandi there were other patients in the queue outside, waiting to go in, who agreed with my comments. One lady in particular said that this had been her experience at your practice for over 4 years. As a former business owner myself, I’m pleased to be the one to draw this to your attention as obviously It’s not good for your business, its reputation or for the people it serves. I hope you see the value in my raising this directly with you rather than simply ignoring it and telling others of your inefficiencies and of my bad experience. With kindness ... Graham

Fantastic experience: We are currently on holiday from Victoria and my daughter has developed an ear infection from all the pool swimming. I rang this clinic to try and see a doctor. I rang at 9am. Was offered an appt at 10.15am. Filled in an online registration form. Arrived at 10am went STRAIGHT IN! The Dr was amazing! The reception staff amazing!! Such a great experience!

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr Cuffe for some ongoing issues after a bike accident with anxiety etc. Following his advice re medication and lifestyle changes. Amazing transformation after 18 month struggle. Cannot thank Dr Cuffe and the team at Mermaid Central enough.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this medical Centre. I went in today as I’m waiting to see Graham in December and saw Dr Leigh and she was very professional, kind and efficient. Such a great doctor and Very professional medical Centre, the reception and staff here are lovely I saw them go out of their way to really help out patients . Today I needed a pathology form and the clinic managed to fit me in which I really appreciate so much. Didn’t have to wait long and there are seats outside which is so comfortable if you want to soak up some sun and fresh air.

Negative experience: An unethical practice which should be avoided at all costs…

Negative experience: Bad experience. I came ontime due my dry cough. Hoping to get an advice or medication from doctor because my own GP full booked. 1. I've been waiting outside for 30 mins only for check in with receptionist because they scared I bring a COVID for them. While I bring 2 RAT test evidence and it is negative. Rude receptionist and said can't hear me many times. Wrote wrong my medicare number but blame me that my medicare is invalid lol. 2. Doctor just asking without giving me a medication or solution, instead do another SWAB Test! and need to pay it. 3. They charged me $85 while I have a medicare and always get free from my GP but they said it will back 100% in my account. Actually only half. THANKYOU SOMUCH FOR SELLING UNNECESSARY A SWAB TEST FOR ME WITH NEGATIVE RESULT. No MEDICATION and no ADVICE. Never ever back to this place and always proud with my own GP!

Fantastic experience: Paul fisser best doctor ever. Always polite and respectful and we have been with him for years

Negative experience: The doctor we saw for 13 years was excellent but the management of the practice left much to be desired. We are both over 65 and never received any notification about Covid or shingles vaccinations. Or any follow up. I know we are also responsible for our health but this practice only looks at the almighty dollar. Don’t dare go in thinking you can discuss 2 ailments in one consultation. No, need to make another appointment if you have two things wrong. Staff are abrupt. We pay over $45 out of pocket per visit so expect a little attention. Sorry to loss the doctor but want to be treated as a human being not an ATM.

Negative experience: Dr Lil Benjamin can't manage her bookings and over books her self and reception can't be bothered to let you know until you turn up, no customer service at all.

Negative experience: The doctors here are great! The staff are rude and make you feel unwelcome!

Negative experience: Shocking Service, my 18 yo daughter who is a fulltime student went there for the first time as new to the area. Had a 10.15 appt and was kept waiting for an hour an 1/2 and was so late to work that she lost her shift. Was then charged $100 for the appt. She won't be going back there!!!!

Negative experience: Unethical. I called to book in my 1 year old grandson with Dr Angela Suarez as a new patient for his ear ache and rattly chest. I was told that this Dr does not see any patients with covid symptoms!! I am discussted that a doctor will not see a 1 year old child. I explained that his ear ache and rattly chest has been constant since birth and that he has been seen by an ENT, but is tugging at his ears and in pain. I was again told that this Dr does not see patients with covid symptoms. I will be telling everybody about this centre's ethics.

Fantastic experience: Very efficient and professional

Negative experience: I've had an appointment for my son with Dr Jonathan Marchand at 3.30, at 5 O Clock the receptionist said I still have another person in front and if want to come back in 45 minutes We just left that's absolutely ridiculous

Positive experience: Drs are great, its a shame the wait is an hr every time. Do not go here if your young child has cold symptoms as you will be made to wait outside for the hr with doors open to the busy highway, next to a fire alarm for them to play with. A gated area for this reason would be great, or to be seen in a reasonable time frame would be even better

Fantastic experience: Amazing service friendly staff, Justin Cuffe is the most Amazing doctor, nurses ans receptionist beautiful

Negative experience: Not very happy with my last visit. Arrived 3 minutes prior to my appointment time to get some routine blood test results. Waited 30 mins, then get told my doctor has actually left. Ask if another doctor can give me my results, wait another 30 minutes, then get my results from another doctor, who was lovely and apologized when it was obviously not her fault at all. To my surprise get charged a full $90 consult for a quick results chat. Receptionist does not thank me for waiting or apologize for the stuff up. Won't be returning.

Fantastic experience: Dr Fisser goes above and beyond and gets results. He is caring and professional and very proactive. He was my doctor overseas and when i found him again in Australia i was ecstatic. I travel from Sydney just to see Dr Fisser with my whole family. We wont bother seeing any other doctor. He is the best doctor out there!

His diagnostic ability is outstanding and always listens to our problems and sorts us out. When one enters the Clinic we are always met by a very friendly and smiling staff who makes us feel at home. Fantastic experience: Just wanted to give a shout out to Dr Jono Marchand, he is a specialist GP and takes his time to review your health concerns thoroughly , he talks with you about treatment and outcomes along with best practice solutions also taking into account your concerns and explaining the reasons for his medical opions, this way of communications allows me to also make choices with my health care...............I have never felt rushed out of his office in the 8 years i have been seeing Dr Marchand and have known him to stay back well after closing time and the cleaners have gone home, following up with his patients care............. I leave my visit always with full confidence the best medical decision has been taken into account for myself............. Now how do i get him back to Adelaide :-)

Negative experience: Clean clinic, Indian doctor was nice but made terrible pre hospital report & failed to include any allergic medication as well as prescribed medication that is being taken for seizures.

Negative experience: Not a good experience asked how much longer after waiting an hour and a half for my appointment, a vague not too much longer... isn’t the idea of making appointments so you know when you get to see the doctor?

Fantastic experience: I recently visited this surgery which has been our families medical center for over 15 years now. As always the reception staff greeted me with warmth and kindness and were extremely thorough with their Covid Safe Plan. Dr Paul Fisser made me feel like I was as special as the Queen and as always takes our health with the upmost importance. He never fails to get to the source of the issue. A special mention to Nurse Lisa for her extra supportive care. I would highly recommend this surgery to anyone looking for medical assistance.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, professional service by staff and Dr Marchand! I visit this centre and Dr Marchand weekly. I've never had a Dr take such a thorough and personally, friendly, caring approach to my health needs. Dr Marchand takes a holistic approach, rather than merely treat symptoms. The pain relief I’ve received due to his Musculor Skeletal knowledge Is incredible. You may have to wait sometimes due to hi thoroughness but Believe me it’s worth it.

Fantastic experience: Great doctor Surgery. Always greeted with a smile by the wonderful reception staff. I see Dr Suarez who is an amazing Doctor, she listens to my concerns. Negative experience: J Marchand is the worst GP I've ever seen, such a rude and cranky man with horrible skill !

Fantastic experience: Went to see Dr Brendan Baragry with my six month old and he was incredibly helpful and reassuring. A great people person and easy to talk to. Would book with him again for sure.

Negative experience: Only visit this doctor if you want to be rushed in and out like livestock with no privacy whatsoever. After my first visit I was hounded with phone calls from various numbers (both listed and private) and a letter to make another appointment for a non urgent review of results. When they couldn't get in contact with me they called the emergency contact on my file, a total breach of my privacy. Have never experienced this kind of pushiness by a gp in my life.

Negative experience: Don’t know what the doctors are like, but we had an injury (our daughters leg had a deep cut) and drove for 25 minutes to this clinic which was shown as closing at 6:30. We arrived at 6:15 but the receptionist told us that she had already closed the till and it would be too hard to open it again. We asked if the doctor could just let us know whether or not we should go to a hospital or just disinfect and bandage it but they said no, it was not possible to tell us this, and the redirected us to a hospital emergency department. I don’t think a practise should list itself as open if they aren’t actually willing to treat people. If they close up at 6:15, then they should mark their hours as closing at 6:15 so that people aren’t misled.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with Dr Angela Suarez performing a mole check for me. Vey thorough, gentle and caring. Worth the consult fee after I had a horrible experience at a Bulk Bill Practice in Palm Beach.

Fantastic experience: We were on holidays from Sydney and had to take our son to this clinic. We were so lucky to be seen by Dr Chris Soo. Very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommended! Thank you to Dr Soo and all the staff!

Negative experience: This is the worst doctors I have been to. They don't tell you who bulk bills. They don't issue reminders. The 6 reception staff care more about talking to each other than serving customers. Doctors not careing about your privacy when your wife obviously sought a female doctor for that very reason. Being told to book another appointment just to ask a simple question that the doctor could have answered in 5-10 seconds. If you have no other choic, a least see jack

Negative experience: Rude reception, appointment booked at 1015 no notice that they were running an hour late. Instead of fitting appointment in at 1115 were told maybe at 2 which was not a time that was usefull due to work. If u are running late you fit people in with an appointment instead of whenever suits them.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff at Mermaid Central are polite, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I've been a patient here for 19 years and won't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: always positive always cheerful - just a great Doctor/person

Negative experience: The typical "doctor service". Patient in and out as fast as they can. Sometimes you hope that when a place isn't bulk billing that they will have better service... Sadly not this clinic.

Negative experience: Terrible, rude reception, un-tidy waiting area, doctors generally didnt seem to care, which was really disheartening seeing its not bulk billed. Purely a bad experience, I hope management has a serious think about what they are there for in the first place, to help people.
