Fantastic experience: I have been coming here, and bringing my kids here, more than twenty years. I find both the doctors and the staff consistently polite and efficient. The doctors that join the practice stick around long term, which is a good indicator - there used to be three regulars, now it's more like eight. I have appreciated their walk-in option many times - if I can't get an appointment, I or my child can still get seen, at the cost of 15-30min wait time. Appointments mostly cost $100-$120 as at Oct 2024, and the medicare rebate returns approximately $40 of that. The centre is open on evenings and weekends. There is a pathology collection room on site as well, although the hours are more limited.

Negative experience: I went to Florey Medical Center see doctor Stephen Tang as I got left side ear and head nerve pain for couple days last Tuesday. While I swallow anything, the nerve pain was very bad, however, it was quick appointment as usual and he prescribed me antibiotics with another muscle pain medication called Norgesic. Without telling me any side effects and day 4, I got most of Norgesic side effects like dryness of mouth, tachycardia, palpitations, blurred vision, weakness, nausea, headache, dizziness and drowsiness on Friday night, my heartbeat was quick and body was shaking, holding a cup of tea felt tired and made my whole long weekend miserable, I thought I was dying. Except for taking the medicine, I never had any of this before, so I checked the side effects and found out. Asked a nurse I know, she was surprised why gave me Norgesic! Went to see my GP yesterday and she also mentioned if no muscle pain and join issue, it shouldn’t prescribe Norgesic, even though needed, patient should be told not to use with other medicine like panadol as Norgesic is double panadol dose with sth else together. The side effects need at least a week to get out of body system completely. Clearly Mr Tang’ job wasn’t done correctly by not telling the side effects and with cautions. Knowing him from others stories, not surprised at all how he treats his patients, he is the famous doctor with any appointments less than 10 minutes. I will never go to Florey medical center again. Hopefully, everyone be careful before you take any medication, please check what you got from the doctor and make sure it’s safe to take it. 13/10/2024, today I want to add sth regarding to Dr Tang’s phone call on Thursday after my first comment made above on 09/10/2024. He did apologize and told me his manager had a conversation with him, he wanted me to withdraw my above comment by refund my $100 fee, otherwise he will be in trouble while his boss coming back from America in three weeks. He also mentioned he didn’t know I got the side affects so bad as he normally prescribes to teenagers who play sports got injury or muscle pain. 1st of Oct was his first day back from holiday and his brain wasn’t full functional etc. Hearing what he said on that day and the reception asked my account details added “is everything all good now? You will receive refund in few days”. I was very angry. Sharing my experience in here wasn’t trying to make a big deal but remind others. His explanation made me feel is my faults to have serious side effects than others. Doesn’t matter what your manager and boss think, it’s your negligence without telling your patient while there is warming showing “do not take this medicine for longer than a few days at a time, do not take with other products containing paracetamol, do not drive a motor vehicle and operate machinery”, he didn’t mention a word for these. Was I in a injury with any long term muscle pain? Why prescribe me 100 tablets? Lucky I only had 22 tables and stop because so sick, what if I had alcohol during that long weekend or drove long distances to somewhere, imagine things could bad happen to me. Yesterday, my friend showed her GP prescribed 12 tablets while her ankle injured when she was skiing couple of month ago and told her to be careful if any unwell feelings. Other GP said Norgesic side affects might take longer than a week to past all, my travel plan to overseas had to change, I will have to get relevant healthy check to make sure no further damage. Unfortunately, I won’t withdraw my true experience and I have my rights to do so, if your clinic and yourself care about reputation so much, better to care your patients and put yourself in my shoes, because you are the one we trust and count on you while we need medical advice!

Negative experience: It took me almost 6 weeks to book in to see the Dr. Whilst the staff were pleasant, I waited for over half an hour for what was meant to be along consultation and I had maybe ten minutes with the Dr . I didn't feel the Dr actually listen, he seemed more interested in moving on to the next patient. I was then charged $140 for this consultation

Fantastic experience: came on a Tuesday in the afternoon to see Dr. Tang who was caring and thoughtful towards his patients, the front desk staff was quite switched on and professional as well made sure to check photo id and everything which was good, overall had a great experience visiting here!:>

Negative experience: They charged $100 for a 5 year old to attend the practice. The doctor was nice however when writing the certificate they got the carers address and parental responsibility wrong.

Negative experience: Couldn't get into my own GP. Felt belittled by GP who would not presscibe me anything or give me a week off work. Was told to go back to my own GP despite telling her they were booked out. Waste of time, money and energy

Negative experience: I've been visiting this clinic intermittently for about 10 years and have always seen Dr. Stephen Tang. The doctor is very responsible, and I have no complaints in that regard. However, today, I had an unpleasant experience with one of their receptionists. Yesterday, I received a report from Dr. Stephen Tang, but I accidentally lost it. This morning, on 16/06/2024, I called the reception to request an electronic copy of the report. I was told to send an email which I did immediately. After waiting for three hours, I called back to see if they could send it to me now. I understand that it generally takes two days to process such requests, but based on my past experiences, it never took that long. The receptionist seemed reluctant to check for me. She told me again that it would take two days, and I mentioned that I would come by to pick it up. She didn't seem very welcoming, asked for my name and other details, and then told me they hadn't received the latest blood test report. I informed her that I had received it from the doctor yesterday and it should be in their system. I had to repeat this several times, and she kept insisting, in a rather impatient tone, that it wasn't there. At this point, I was getting a bit anxious because her attitude wasn't very good. I asked her to call the Laverty Pathology center to have them resend it. She said they were closed for the day. I knew that Laverty Pathology's main lab is open 24/7. I informed her of this, but she still refused to call, claiming they were closed, even though I had just spoken to them. Feeling targeted, I got more urgent in my tone. She then accused me of having a bad attitude and hung up on me. I called Laverty Pathology again, confirmed they were indeed open, and then called back to Floria Medical Centre. She said she didn't have time for my nonsense. When I asked her why she lied about Laverty Pathology being closed, she denied it and said a superior would call me tomorrow. When I asked for her name, she refused to give it and hung up on me again. Throughout the entire interaction, it felt like she was not eager to help and didn't care much about her job. Perhaps it was because it was a Sunday, and she was in a hurry to go home. She kept saying I was disrespectful, but I followed all her instructions from the beginning. This was my experience.

Positive experience: Dr Pratap is lovely. However if you see Dr Tang, be prepared for 3 minute appointments... He has to have one of the highest patient numbers in Canberra. Who sees one patient on average every 3 minutes? Yes I have timed this while waiting for my GP

Positive experience: Dr Pottomuttu and the other doctors are great, run on time most of the time and are courteous. Great place for a GP to be able to get in quickly and they do walk in appointments. Only downside is everytime you call they just don't answer (and I understand they are busy, but I've been with the practice for 4+ years and only ever been able to book an appointment online).

Positive experience: Reception staff and doctors are wonderful the only problem is trying to make an appointment over the phone and was PUT ON HOLD ON RECORDING. the recording did not change for the medical centre being closed on a public holiday. I was on hold for 1 and hald hour!!! Finally gave up and hang up

Positive experience: Been attending Florey for 10+.years. I book appointment on line and always on time. If an emergency I can just walk in and the wait is not too long. Dr Pratap is an amazing GP, who has assisted me with many issues. It is also good to ring for a script and I then receive e-script, usually same day. Nurse is great with vaccinations.

Positive experience: I have been coming to Florey Medical for at least 15 years. I usually am seen near the designated appointment time. I commend the doctors (Lo and Buckley) for their thorough examination of my complaints and the steps prescribed for remediation of difficulties.

Negative experience: Everywhere states you are open until 6:30pm on Fridays. It's Friday 5pm and you're shut. I'll go without my prescription I guess

Fantastic experience: Been coming here off and on since about 1995. Apart from one of my kids having a really poor vaccination experience from a visiting nurse, all of my visits here have always been useful. All the GPs here have been great with the kids, and quite personable. Very happy with the medical knowledge and treatments recommended. I feel that we are lucky to have this medical centre in this area.

Fantastic experience: I called the practice at the time they opened and they were able to fit me in with several doctors that day. I ended up seeing Dr Laeeq 30 mins later who was kind, attentive, thorough and very helpful. So good to know there's a great practice/GP near me.

Fantastic experience: As an 82 year old interstate resident, unable to contact my own Centre, I requested antivirals by phone, following a positive Covid test today Saturday 30 December. The Reception staff and the Dr with whom I spoke later, dealt with me politely, promptly and professionally in arranging a prescription.

Fantastic experience: Florey medical centre was a small and simple practice but very giving in their service. The staff were very polite and professional and the wait times weren’t too long at all despite there being a lot of patients there. Dr Narada Kiriella was very helpful and informative with his approach. He was also really willing to listen to my issues and offered good effective management. Would recommend this practice - even this being my first time.

Negative experience: We moved to florey in June and I took my 8yr old there only to be misdiagnosed, not once but twice and also prescribed the wrong medication and left my daughter suffering in pain for several weeks while we followed the Drs advice only to discover from the local pharmacy she had been prescribed the wrong medication for that condition and the over the counter medication recommended by the pharmacy worked within 3 days. I'm disabled and can't afford to pay for consultations that line the drs pockets while we have to go without and my daughter suffered. Never going back to this place.

Although we do have heating & cooling throughout our centre for year-round comfort, you may find it to be a little cooler near the front sliding doors. Please do not hesitate to approach our friendly reception team in future, who will happily assist you in finding a more comfortable seating area.

Positive experience: I like going to Florey because the Drs are very good. The only reason why I dropped the last star is that it is quite expensive to see a Dr and they don't offer a bulk billing service.

Negative experience: Great doctors but staff at the reception can’t book the appointment. They didn’t book appointment for the 6 weeks baby health check and 16 weeks check. Twice our booking was moved for another date without notifying us.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience.... I am a international traveller with travel insurance and needed to see a doctor. Was able to find Florey Medical Centre, using google maps and able to see bios of the doctors, services provided and make an on-line booking for same day. In-take at reception was easy and appointment was on-time. Waiting area is generous. Doctor was gregarious and to the point. Able to get all the required documents for insurance claim (including medical notes, prescription and invoice) but the cost for visit ($95AUD) was reasonable even without the travel insurance (IMHO). Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: Long wait time on morning appointment and incorrect medication name on script. Paid a premium price for a Saturday appointment for a less than satisfactory experience.
