Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Sydney Paediatrics:

Sydney Paediatrics is renowned for its commitment to child health and family support, with Dr. Scott Dunlop leading the practice. Many parents praise his professionalism, direct approach, and the long-time care he provides to his young patients. Numerous reviews highlight the thorough assessments and thoughtful treatment plans that Dr. Dunlop customizes for each child, ensuring that parents feel heard and respected.

Positive experiences are often shared about the warm and caring nature of the staff, as well as the clinic's welcoming atmosphere. Families express gratitude for the flexibility offered, especially for those traveling long distances for consultations, with telehealth options now available.

However, some parents have raised concerns regarding the sharpness of Dr. Dunlop's bedside manner, citing instances where they felt their concerns were dismissed or they experienced a lack of empathy. Complaints about high consultation fees and short appointment durations have also been reported. A handful of reviews note dissatisfaction with the practice's communication and treatment approaches.

Despite these negative reviews, the majority commend Dr. Dunlop for his knowledgeable and attentive care, and recommend Sydney Paediatrics as a trustworthy option for pediatric services in Sydney.

Negative experience: If you are thinking of booking this peditrican think again. Very rude, cold and blunt. Didnt really want to be there in the hospital doing his job. He was in and out in 5 minutes and everything was " i assume" didnt care about anything just wanted to rush out. Threats were sent via email as the bill was not paid as he expects that as a new mother i sit on my phone waiting for emails. Very disgusting behavior.

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear Jasmina, thank you for the opportunity to elaborate here. Your baby was seen 2 months ago in hospital. You expressed no concerns whatsoever at the time, and in fact called the office to book in a follow-up review, which was made available to you within 5 days. You then failed to show up to that appointment. It seems unusual that you were so unhappy with the hospital service, yet arranged a follow-up appointment? Perhaps the more accurate sequence of events was that in fact you had no concerns in hospital and so booked a follow-up, but now that you have been chased for an account that is 2 months' overdue you throw insults in an obvious attempt to avoid your financial obligations. No threats were ever sent to you. In fact you have ignored all our attempts at communication. Today's tirade comes after your Obstetrician also called you out on your refusal to be responsible for your own financial obligations to Dr Dunlop. It's all very clichéd really.

Fantastic experience: We have been seeing Dr Dunlop for about a year for our child (7yrs). Dr Dunlop has been professional and direct when it came to discussing our child's previous diagnosis and then subsequent diagnosis. As parents with data backgrounds, we were strong in our beliefs of evidence based diagnosis and as such asked many questions. Dr Dunlop was able to provide examples and pointed to behaviours that supported the diagnosis - and did so without being dismissive or 'put out'. We were grateful for his direct approach which allowed us to put a plan in place and assist our son with the necessary supports he needs. As interstate patients, Sydney Paediatrics also took into consideration the difficulty we have in travelling to appointments and after several, have now moved to telehealth (based on distance). We were grateful for the face to face and the flexibility with the ongoing care. Thank you Dr Scott for helping us in this journey, our child now has the opportunity to sit still, learn and grow in a school environment! The Thorogoods

Fantastic experience: Scott was our Paediatrician for my newborn in the hospital at Hurstville private. We saw him again for her 6 week check up. We were very happy with his care, would recommend!

Negative experience: Sadly, this is one of those doctors you need to be cautious of before exposing yourself or your children to their care. Whilst my son had already seen a peadiatrician 4 months prior for a general overall assessment, Dr Dunlop was referred to us specifically for some behavioural management assistance. In preparation to see him, his office asked us for a letter from our sons daycare to assist with the initial appointment. Upon arrival into Dr Dunlop's paediatric office, there is one thing that is strkingly obvious and shocking - No childrens toys - No childrens books - No bright colours - No 'anything child related'. Certainly not a typical peadiatric office to enter into. Nevertheless, my wife, son and I stuck around for my little boys appointment. Upon greeting from Dr Dunlop, he called us into his office, greeted my wife and I, but strangely no greeting to our son of whom he was seeing. We entered his office which immediately felt cold, and noticed a starking similarity to his reception. No toys or books - nothing but his desk and bits of furniture. Dr Dunlop began his session by referring to my son's daycare reference letter to him. He continued on with a typical Paediatric questionnaire to my wife and I about our son. Still, to this point, Dr Dunlop had not spoken to our son, neither did we even notice him look in his direction. While most of his questions were typical, his reaction to some of our standard responses suggested that he had already pre-diagnosed or pre-assumed my sons condition and appeared disturbed when our answers did not align with his pre-conceptions. Dr Dunlop then came to a close of his questions, looked my wife and I directly and said the following. "There is usually an underlying reason for all of these symptoms, and that reason is Autism. Your little boy has Autism". This was quite a shock to my wife and I. First, we were certain that he does not have autism; all of his daycare teachers and the pediatrician we saw four months ago were also very confident in this. Second, we were completely stunned that a diagnosis was made without him saying a word or interacting with my son even once. I emphasise, Dr Dunlop did not speak or interact with my son during the entirety of the appointment. To my utter shock at this loose diagnosis, I began to question and challenge Dr. Dunlop. It was clear that he was not accustomed to being questioned or challenged and did not take it well, becoming very dismissive. He even claimed not to understand my straightforward questions, such as 'Can you explain to me what autism spectrum is?' My wife then asked him what level of autism he believed our son had, and to our further shock, he suggested 'Level 2 - requiring substantial support'! His reasoning for this diagnosis? 'This letter from his daycare is an autism letter,' he stated. When we explained that the daycare staff were adamant that our son was not autistic, he now appeared unsure of his diagnosis. However, it was too late to backtrack from his conclusive statements, and it seemed he felt compelled to stand by them. I want to clarify that I was not worried about a genuine autism diagnosis or the possibility that my son might be autistic. Having friends and family members who are autistic, I am comfortable with such a diagnosis if it were accurate. What shocked me the most was Dr. Dunlop’s very unorthodox method of diagnosing someone with Level 2 autism. From my understanding, an autism diagnosis should be made after multiple observations in different contexts (such as in clinic, at home, and at school) and should not rely solely on an initial 30-40 minute consultation consisting of parent-completed questionnaires. This component should complement a comprehensive evaluation, not serve as the sole basis for the diagnosis. While Dr. Dunlop will likely respond to this as he has to other negative reviews—dismissively, with the usual 'privacy laws prevent me from discussing this', I encourage you to be cautious of doctors who are quick to make unsubstantiated diagnoses of your children.

Fantastic experience: We had a very positive experience with Dr Dunlop. He addressed our concerns and was very kind.

Fantastic experience: Great experience today with Dr Dunlop. Will come back regularly if anything comes up with our son again. Listened to each of our concerns and went through each one individually, we left with solid advice and suggestions, but just reassured all was fine and manageable, which was essentially all we needed from a professional. 3x GPs prior were unable to communicate or be informative with facts with us like Dr Dunlop was. All of our reasons for visiting were minor but we left feeling much better instead of more concerned like our other appointments with GPs, paying the difference is well worth the peace of mind. Also the lady in the reception was LOVELY.. chatty, friendly and helpful in person and on email :)

Negative experience: If I can give zero stars, I would. Don’t be duped by the positive online reviews like we were. From the very first appointment, he lacked empathy, care, and bedside manner. Our daughter has an ongoing condition, which he’s been monitoring since birth. We arrived to our appointment 10 minutes late (phoned while we were on the way to let the practice know we were going to be a bit late but he didn’t care because we didn’t leave a message), because bub wasn’t feeling the best. Once we arrived, he refused to see us, because we were “significantly” late. Dr. Dunlop didn’t even have the decency to walk outside and talk to his patients and explain what’s going on and why he’s refusing to see us. Being 10 min late is not a reasonable excuse when we had plenty of time left for our consultation that we pay a high price for and shouldn’t be a message for the receptionist to deliver. He didn’t have any other patient in his room and he should have seen us as our appointment is slotted for more than 10 minutes and he has a duty of care while monitoring our 1 year old’s ongoing condition. We’ve never been late to any appointments and when we were 10 minutes late because bub wasn’t feeling well, he refused to even come out of his room and talk to us face to face. We waited months for this appointment as our last appointment had to be cancelled because bub was in the hospital for over a week with a virus. We’ve spent so much money on his services and have not received good care nor empathy. The only reason we stayed with him that long is because it’s so difficult to get in with any other pediatrician and bub needs constant scans to monitor her condition. He made us feel like we had to beg for the care that our child and all other children deserve from practitioners, not to mention how much we all pay for his services. So sad to experience this type of treatment for our little bub.

William Saheli 1 year ago

Negative experience: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!! Avoid this pediatrician at all costs, please do yourself and your child a favour by not seeing him. Zero professionalism. Zero empathy. Zero duty of care Our 15-month-old has a condition she was born with and other sleeping issues that Dunlop was seeing her for. In June, we had to call and postpone our appointment with Dunlop because our daughter was in hospital with a serious virus. In September, we arrived to our appointment 10 mins late as our daughter was not feeling well and we were delayed. Dunlop stayed in his room and would not see our daughter because apparently, we were ‘significantly late’. He had no other patient at the time, we pleaded with his receptionist and said we would be happy for Dunlop to only see her for a few minutes so that he could at a minimum check her latest ultrasound and update us on her condition. He refused. She is a baby, and he is her practitioner overseeing her. He owes her a duty of care. We arrived during our allotted time (albeit not at the start, and only 10 mins late), there was no patient in his room– at the very least he could have seen her and updated us on her medical condition. It takes so long to get another appointment, and who knows what risks further delays may entail. He has zero accountability: He would not come out of his office and explain to his patient why he would not see her. Instead, he sat in his room a few metres away and left it to his receptionist to try and explain. His receptionist WAS LEFT CRYING IN TEARS trying to justify his senseless and gutless actions. I barely ever complain because I have a high tolerance for indiscretions, and I am not demanding. But we wanted to warn other parents about him, so that other families don’t experience what we did.

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop has been managing my 4 children aged 11, 9, 9 & 6 for a few years now. I have found that Dr Scott Dunlop and his team are professional, empathetic, responsive, thorough and patient. I have some personal mental health issues and at no stage have I ever been made to feel different or unsupported. Dr Scott Dunlop has assisted my family greatly, by providing a safe environment, asking extensive questions to try to investigate root cause or contributing life/environmental or external environmental factors. When there were some hard periods of our lives, Dr Scott Dunlop has kindly arranged for flexible payment options, this is very rare as other Pediatricians do not offer this option. This has incredibly helped me with my anxiety and allowed my children the necessary specialist supports without being interrupted due to financial constraints as a single mother. I believe really shows his dedication and duty of care as a specialist, he does not penalise the less fortunate. Belinda (Administration Manager) - is truly amazing, always professional while remaining soft & empathetic, is very efficient and responsive to any questions and is extremely helpful. I highly recommend Dr Scott Dunlop and his team at Sydney Pediatrics. Looking forward to seeing Dr S Dunlop & Belinda for my 3 boys review next week (November 2023). God Bless Forever thankful - Shireen, Jeremiah, Elias, Josiah and Eliana

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my son to see Dr. Dunlop for the past 8 years. I have found him to be professional, knowledgeable, and willing to take the time to diagnose the best way forward. Dr. Dunlop has always put the concerns of a parent and welfare of my son first. Every time that I have visited Sydney Paediatrics the reception staff have been warm and friendly too. I would highly recommend Dr. Dunlop for any paediatric services.

Aldo Azael Vázquez Velázquez 1 year ago

Negative experience: Very bad service and a rip off. I got a referral to see a paediatrician waited few months to get the advice that any person could given in a 5 min consultation. He examined the baby by looking at him over the distance. He said he is ok, it’s viral. Pay at the reception 400 dlls for nothing. In general service is bad from doctor, reception service is ok.

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear Aldo, we're glad that your child wasn't unwell and that nothing further needed to be done. Perhaps return to your GP and ask them why they referred your child if the advice given was that which "any person could give".

Positive experience: Amazing man, very helpful information. Although could lower prices for short appointments. Overall very great paediatrician. Highly recommended.

Sydney Paediatrics

Thanks for the review. Consultations are not time based - the fees paid are for our Paediatricians' expertise and the item codes used are based on clinical complexity as per the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop is amazing; we are beyond grateful for his care and support of our daughter and couldn't ask for a more thorough Pediatrician. Dr Dunlop has always taken the time to listen to our concerns as parents and provide helpful, appropriate advice and information. He was a crucial step in assisting our daughter with her autism diagnosis and we have been thankful for his affirming approach to this. Dr Dunlop has a direct manner, which we appreciate (he will tell you what you need to hear!) and we have enjoyed his humour too. His staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Ignore the bad reviews - don't know where they come from, he's great.

Shana Serene 2 years ago

Negative experience: Looks like Dr Dunlop got his medical license out of a cereal box and his parents taught him no manners. Miserable old man

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear Shana, there are too may insults here for us to respond to - unqualified, no manners, miserable - and old! Hopefully you've found a young, qualified, polite and happy Paediatrician to look after your child.

O M 2 years ago

Negative experience: Worst experience especially for a new mother! Dr Dunlop was so rough with the baby in the hospital, barely spoke to us then sent us a bill for over $500! For our first follow up appointment in his clinic, he had me holding my undressed baby under blasting aircon while he was on the phone for 15 minutes talking badly about another patient in front of me! Then when he was done, he rushed me and wouldn’t let me finish any questions then ended the appointment!!!! He had the receptionist deliver me some results about my baby but she was unable to answer any questions, he wouldn’t speak to me on the phone himself and wouldn’t let me make an appointment to see him without anew referral, I had to redo the test with my GP to get clarity. Overall very unprofessional and very heartless treatment!

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear O M, Given you have aired your grievances about the practice and Dr Dunlop publicly, perhaps you could come out from behind your anonymous post and identify yourself so we can respond to your grossly inaccurate accusations. If you were so unhappy with the service you received in hospital, why did you return for further reviews?

Sabine Modersohn 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed about the treatment I received as a worried first time mother. I felt my concerns were belittled and brushed off and before I left the practice I’d wish I never booked my long awaited appointment there. I’m an OR nurse and I have seen a lot of things and I just don’t want to be one of those parents that will regret not seeing a specialist. To explain the situation. I’m traveling overseas with my son for 2 months and he had a cough for over 5 weeks now and it didn’t get better. I didn’t trust the GP any longer and wanted everything to be checked out before I travel 22 hours on a plane. Get the green light for it. I mean I’m paying the bill at the end, so please respect me and my concerns and try to hide your strong ego that you have better things to do. Telling me to see the GP next time was clearly enough that I was not welcomed anymore. Done! You won’t see me and my son ever again. I can spend my money in every other practice. No worries I understand that everyone can have a bad day and you have seen worse but try to treat everyone seen and heard with a pinch of empathy. I’ve been to your practice for the second time now and both times were definitely not an experience I would recommend actually the opposite. Also, maybe you should change the announcement on the answering machine to that it can take 2 days until you respond to the phone calls. And due to the horrible parking situation in your street, let people know about that as well to plan in more time. I couldn’t even reach someone to inform, that I was searching for a parking spot for 8 minutes already it would have taken 2 days for them to respond.

Negative experience: Reply to Sydney Paediatrics: Firstly - hahahaha This review was left 12months, nice of you to reply finally. My communication with Dr Dunlop to contribute was PRIOR to meeting him in person. Thank god he declined because now I’ve met him my opinion has drastically changed and I despise him which is the basis of my review. He is a pig in person. What he promotes and his actual bedside manner are worlds apart. Seems to be a similar opinion amongst local mothers and Allied health professionals also which I’m hearing a lot now. Lesson learnt on my end. Thank you for ignoring my email post the consult aswell. It just re-inforced my feelings. Digging your own grave. Edited to add: PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS. BE MINDFUL THAT ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS COME FROM NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE. ANYONE CAN JUMP ON HERE TO HELP BOOST POSITIVE COMMENTS BUT NEGATIVE REVIEWS HAVE COME FROM FULL PAYING PATIENTS WHO HAVE LEFT UNSATISFIED. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH, I REALLY QUESTION THIS MAN NOW. Our one and only appointment was unfortunately the worst experience. With comments like ‘Do you think your son is a nervous / worried / anxious / depressed child - because I can tell he gets it from you’ plus when I mentioned that I had suffered with PNA and PND I was told ‘I’m going to be blunt but you just need to get over it’ meant we spent the entire appointment feeling like we were under the microscope the entire time amongst many other emotions that raised in an already vulnerable state. We left empty handed with no definitive answers and were told to just come back in 3 months. We never received a copy of the report and only new there was one after I had a GP appointment months later and they printed it for me. I was appalled at Dr Dunlops bedside manner, lack of empathy, unprofessionalism and I honestly question his approach to medicine and diagnostic judgement. I have since swiftly revoked our subscription to Kids Consult and our son as a patient. I didn’t appreciate the comments neither did my husband and we have no confidence whatsoever in your medical care.

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear Amy, unfortunately we are restricted by privacy laws in terms of being able to respond fully here. What we can say is that despite your unhappiness with the consultation, you were nonetheless comfortable to continue to receive advice by email afterwards. Communication was also completed with your child's teacher, whose feedback you disagreed with. Our Paediatricians are tasked with providing an opinion to your referring GP, and that is communicated to them in written form. You never asked us for a copy of that communication, which could have been provided to you. We also note that you emailed Dr Dunlop to request him contribute to your own Facebook group. Given your consultation was now almost 12 months ago, it's probably time to move on and concentrate on other things.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my daughter to see Dr. Dunlop and Leah for a year or so now, and both have been wonderful. I find both to be very patient and understanding. Both spend the time and effort to get to know and understand my child. Neither of them has ever finished their sessions early. In fact, the sessions often last longer than I paid for. I had a look through the reviews here and I am baffled by the 1-star reviews criticising Dr. Dunlop for charging $300 to $500+ per session, all the while conveniently leaving out the fact that they also received a $140 Medicare rebate. All I can say is, these parents are clearly new to Australia. $300+ for a specialist is actually below average from my experience. I’ve heard of specialists charging $800+ per session. If you can’t afford a specialist, why not just go through the free public Medicare system and wait a few years just for a single session with a new graduate?

Rima Omran 2 years ago

Negative experience: This Clinic doesn’t even deserve 1 star with the lack of professionalism from Dr Dunlop. My husband and i waited 20 minutes past our first ever appointment and we’re happy to wait as we can understand sometimes these things can happen. Today we were running late due to not finding any parking and we were approached with a high and rude tone. we called the clinic 3 times to notify them and there was no answer. He showed us nothing but lack of empathy and disrespect as parents who are coming in concerned about our child. As medical practitioners ourselves it’s a shame to see others dealing with situations like this the way Dr Dunlop has. Definitely will not be returning and will return to notify our GP of our pointless and waist of time here. Shame on you .

Sydney Paediatrics

Dear Rima, thank you for your review. As we explained, the complex nature of your consultation could not be completed in the 10mins allowed once you arrived 2/3 of the way into your appointment time. At no stage did you leave a message for us to know you had called. Our reception staff don't deserve to be blamed for your late arrival, and will always be supported in situations where they are being unreasonably treated.

Lily Yu 2 years ago

Positive experience: fees are not transparent. You can get charged more out-of-pocket fees for a 10-mins consult than a 45-mins consult as the shorter consult use lower rebate.

Maria Camila Vasquez Pulido 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not worthy at all. $400 for nothing. The medical appointment was only for 5 minutes and they just weighted and check the size of my baby. Zero empathy from the doctor with my baby. I’m very disappointed with the service.

Sydney Paediatrics

We are limited by privacy laws in terms of what we can discuss publicly. Needless to say, the consultation was longer than claimed, and at the end of it, you had no further concerns and did not express any dissatisfaction. The consult fee was $370, for which you would have received a $140 rebate.

Negative experience: Very worst experience, I booked an appointment almost 5 month ago and when I went to visit doctor, they said the appointment is canceled coz you didn’t reply our sms, that is absolutely ridiculous, I called them after I got SMS that I am coming, every parents is waiting so long coz they are worried about their children, I do called them before I visit them at the day of appointment, why don’t they told me that the appointment is canceled, very worst service.

Sydney Paediatrics

Thanks for your review Sushma. As you are aware, it is a requirement to confirm appointments in the week before you attend. You didn't respond to the SMS or the two phone calls we placed with you. The SMS indicates that lack of response within 48 hours will lead to appointment cancellation. You indicated that you rang the office yesterday for the address - at no stage did you identify yourself or confirm the appointment, in which case we could have notified you that the appointment had been given to another family.

J. Schofield 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop is an excellent paediatrician. He asks lots of questions throughout appointments - demonstrating a great capacity to take in information to form an assessment. I always felt my concerns and observations heard as a parent, and treated with respect and intelligence. We trust his measured advice implicitly and couldn’t recommend a better paediatrician.

Negative experience: Paid $355 for a 10 minute consultation. I thought I would atleast have time to gather myself and think about what I was needing to talk to him about but it was just awkward, rushed and intimidating. I think they need to take into consideration there are first time mums that are over tiered and flustered trying to even make it to the appointment so more time is needed.

Anne Raya 4 years ago

Negative experience: Dr Roediger is an amazing peadiatrician who takes time to explain and ensure we understand everything. She is very knowledgeable and has an extremely kind bedside manner. Unfortunately the reception doesn't answer the phones and when they do the tone and attitude are disappointing which adds to the stress of the process. Such a shame as it brings down the whole practice.

Tim Zheng 4 years ago

Negative experience: We had Dr Scott Dunlop's service at the hospital right after our daughter was born. As a paediatrician, I thought he was quite rough when he did a quick check on my daughter. He put his finger inside her mouth right after using the sanitiser. If I knew he would do this, I would have asked him to wash his hands with soap instead. We then asked him a question about how bub behaved during her sleep, to which his answer was 'baby does all sorts of things', while this might be true, it certainly wasn't reassuring nor helpful. The check up took roughly less than 5 minutes each time but both these initial and follow up 'consultation' costed us a total of $550. I don't know how on earth they can charge this amount for these short and basic check ups. Anyway, that's our review for your reference.

Positive experience: We’ve been seeing Dr Scott Dunlop for around 19 years now in relation to all three of our daughters, the youngest of whom is now 14. We’ve found Scott to be a straight shooter, who sticks with you through all the ups and downs of tricky our-of-the-box medical issues. His focus has always been on our daughters’ wellbeing and he early on made himself available via email for questions, clarifications and support, joining us in advocating for our daughters’ ongoing needs. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: being a foreigner in AU, Dr Jessica Roediger was of great help to me as a new mum. My son is now 2 years, he had very many hospital visits (not fun) but having a doc that put Benjy's well being first was very uplifting. she stood with us until she was comfortable that there were no more health concerns. Fantastic experience: Dr. Dunlop has been an amazing Paed to our boys. We first met him in St. George Private hospital. He was very attentative and caring. Gentle and understanding and brilliant bedside manner. Our first Paed was very rough and barely said a word. Dr. Dunlop undressed my son to assess him but then also re-dressed him back again and popped him back in his swaddle while I was still recovering from a C section. He's straight forward and to the point - exactly what you need. He's precise and has great attention to detail. I can't recommend Dr. Dunlop enough. The clinic staff has always been very friendly especially trying to fit you in to available appointments. Dr Dunlop is always punctual which makes it easy when you have kids waiting to be seen.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop was our chosen pediatrician for both of our children. Dr Dunlop was absolutely fantastic, he was so thorough when examining our children after birth and took the time to talk us through afew minor concerns. We saw him numerous times for our son throughout his first year of life, And each time he made us feel at ease as we were typical nervous first time parents. After the birth of our second child Dr Dunlop took the time to talk us through some other family concerns we had, he gave us options and most importantly he was very reassuring and listened to our worries, answering all our questions. Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop is a fantastic specialist. We have always had a positive experience with this practice and been 100% happy with the treatment and ongoing care provided by Dr Dunlop over the last 8 years with our children. I would highly recommend Dr Dunlop to anyone looking for a very thorough Paediatrician who definitely is very up to date with all current treatments and care for children.

Fantastic experience: Disregard any of the negative reviews written here. Most who write negative reviews write out of anger as they don't get the diagnosis or treatment they have researched so thoroughly for on DR Google!!!. We are both in the medical profession and have taken all four of our children to Dr Scott Dunlop since 2012 when our first daughter was born. Dr Dunlop is an amazing paediatrician who is very well respected in his field. He is very knowledgeable, sensitive and informative. He is great with kids, we have always loved the way he interacts with our children when in consultation. Dr Dunlop has provided the best care we could ask for with all 4 of our kids. Highly recommend Dr Dunlop as a paediatrician for your child.

Fantastic experience: We have been visiting Sydney Paediatrics over the past 13 years, with our second child. Dr Dunlop has always been very diligent in his approach to managing our child’s various needs. He is thoughtful, responsive, observant and adaptable to changing needs as our child grows and it’s all done with a warmth and a sense of humour which is sometimes rare in medical fields. I would highly recommend the Sydney Paediatrics team!

Fantastic experience: I've seen Dr Scott Dunlop since the birth of my first child in 2016. His kind, calm and caring nature along with his extensive knowledge and experience in paediatrics are very reassuring. His professionalism and the manner in which he approached and dealt with concerns made me feel at ease and very confident in his opinion and advise. I have always highly recommended Dr Dunlop to friends and family. It is worth mentioning those I know who have also seen Dr Dunlop have had only positive things to say from their experiences. I would definitely be going back Dr Dunlop if need be in future. His receptionists are lovely too!

Fantastic experience: My kids have been seeing Scott Dunlop since birth. He is a wonderfully supportive partner of our family's health journey. He is patient when I overthink and overstress, he gives clear next steps, straightforward advice and really listens to us as the parents. I have always felt as though my opinion matters to him, and also I appreciate his matter of fact, no drama attitude. His staff at reception have always been so lovely, and the facilities and ambience at his practice are great. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop has been caring for our son since the age of 5 and is now heading towards 15. We have always found Dr Dunlop to be extremely personable, caring and approachable. He always explains his reasoning and explains himself well. Our son thinks the world of him as he is always so compassionate and kind hearted towards him. We highly recommend Dr Dunlop to anybody who may need a paediatrician for an extended period of time for an ongoing concern.

Fantastic experience: Have been seeing Dr Scott Dunlop since the birth of my son 10 years ago. He is an excellent doctor and also a very lovely person to be talking with about newborns, toddlers and now grown kids. The reception team are so helpful and reassuring and really accommodate. Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about my experience with Dr Dunlop and his staff. All three of my children were diagnosed with silent reflux and it was Dr Dunlop who successfully treated and managed my babies (and me!) through the most difficult of times. I love Dr Dunlop’s matter of fact approach, particularly when anxieties are heightened, and has always taken the time in explaining diagnosis, treatment programs as well managing expectations. He is up to date with the latest research, treatment and techniques and is a true innovator in his field. I am forever grateful for his care.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop became our Son’s paediatrician when he was born at Hurstville Private Hospital. He gave our son a very thorough check and was very friendly showing some quirky humour. A knowledgeable and informative doctor is always what you’re after when your newborn is being checked. Our son ended up in special care for a few hours and he was straight over to reassure us and check him over. We have always found Dr Dunlop to be very professional, knowledgeable, helpful and caring when dealing with our son. Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: Doctor Dunlop is an excellent paediatrician and treated my family with the care needed especially when dealing with sick kids and scared parents. I would recommend seeing Scott if any issues with your child as he is very knowledgeable and has a great network of specialists should the need arise.

Positive experience: Thorough paediatrician. Answers any questions in necessary detail and provides reassurance.

Fantastic experience: I was fortunate enough for Dr Dunlop to be the assigned paediatrician for my first baby upon their birth at hospital. He was thorough and gentle with my baby and gave me the time to ask questions in the initial consult and the follow up consult in the hospital. He has an abundance of invaluable knowledge which he confidently shares; something that is comforting for new parents when trying to decipher if their child has a food allergy or a viral infection. Naturally, I booked him in myself upon the birth of my second baby. He promptly replied to my email and provided me and my second baby the same care as the first. His staff have an excellent phone manner, in particular Belinda who is wonderfully understanding. I have recommended Dr Dunlop to family members where I have shared his professionalism and in turn they have agreed when they have visited him too.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best experience I’ve had with a paediatrician. Dr. Dunlop is very knowledgeable and very reassuring which definitely helps with being a first time mum. I wish I had him for my first born.

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop was incredibly helpful in diagnosing inattentive ADHD in one of our kids. The issue had flown under the radar for a myriad of reasons, and a number of years. Scott's clear explanations and straight shooting manner helped us to see the issue was chemical, not environmental, and could be easily and effectively managed. The diagnosis has made a big difference to both the ability and the confidence of our daughter as she navigates school, and life. Thanks.

Fantastic experience: Included our son in the discussions about his care and was really insightful! Spent lots of time with us, and answered all our questions. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: We have found Dr Scott Dunlop to provide pragmatic, easy-to-follow advice and follow-up support. We feel that he gives the pros and cons to treatment options clearly and unambiguously, while respecting thoughtful decisions of us and our children. I like how he addresses the child directly when appropriate and, when appropriate, discusses the child's concerns with the parents privately.

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop has been our paediatrician since being recommended by a colleague over 12 years ago, and I'm so thankful for the advice! We love him!! Both of my children have seen him since infancy and as a family we have been so very happy with his support, guidance, engagement and expertise. I find Scott to be knowledgeable, professional and empathetic while being 'real' in his understandings of every day life for children and parents. We have since gone on to access a variety of other allied health professionals though Sydney Paediatrics and have found each one to be helpful, understanding and caring experts in their field. The reception staff are always willing to help with appointment times around busy families which is much appreciated. Highly recommended!!

Negative experience: Hello all, I don't usually write google review but decided to do this for the first time because I was not happy with Dr Dunlop as well. We visited him about 2 years ago. My GP said he is a very good paediatrics so I was full of hope to see him with my son. However he does not know how to communicate with kids and also he looks like he was a bit drunk when I saw him that day (maybe that is just his appearance). I have not finish asking questions and he opened the door and say thank you and goodbye to me. I will not go back to him again.

Sydney Paediatrics

Thanks for the review Terry. Our clinicians don't usually come to work drunk, nor do they criticise our patients' appearances. They generally don't throw patients out of the consult rooms whilst they are still asking questions either, so perhaps your recall is not quite accurate.

Negative experience: I wish I had better things to say. Scott is like a dodgy mechanic, you go in to get what you assume is normal service, but instead he changes one brake pad, tells you that you probably still need the others changed but he doesn't have time so begs you to book another appointment even though you already told him you've just done the pads. And charges an arm and a leg. He saw us for less than 5 minutes and his invoice was emailed to me within seconds of him walking out of our hospital room. $550. Now think, would I take my car back to him?? So why on earth would I even consider my child. Needless to say, we didn't bother with a follow up appointment.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop has been amazing with all 4 of my babies! He is amazing and caring and goes above and beyond! I will continue to keep him if I need anything for my babies. As soon as you walk in there the receptionist is nice amd Dr Dunlap is nice too always on time and as stated he helps you as much as he can he goes above and beyond. His rooms are beautiful and bright. Dr Dunlap is an amazing and compassionate paediatrician and we have had an wonderful experience we highly recommend him!

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop came highly recommended to me by a family member who is in the medical field. I was exhausted and in desperate need of help with my second newborn baby who wouldn’t stop crying and wouldn’t sleep. He managed to see me within a week and always had available appointments for me unlike other paediatricians that are booked out for months. My newborn was diagnosed with colic , silent reflux and a combination of lack of routine and over breast feeding by myself. I certainly didn’t know you could over feed a breast fed baby. We explored every option and even tested to make sure my baby wasn’t milk intolerant as reassurance. We managed to control the colic to a degree and the reflux completely with medication. He gave me back some much needed sleep for not only myself but my household. He always had patience and was very knowledgeable. He is also reasonably priced compared to other paediatricians. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Dr Dunlop and I am very grateful for his support and help.

Fantastic experience: The staff and doctors at Sydney Paediatrics have been nothing but friendly, compassionate and professional during my 12 year experience with them. Dr Roediger is an exceptional practitioner who always goes above and beyond with her patients and their parents.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr Scott Dunlop. He was my son's paediatrician from birth and successfully treated his reflux for two years until it resolved. Dr Dunlop is an expert in his field and takes the time needed to make you feel at ease and develop/explain the appropriate treatment. The front desk staff were so lovely and helpful at every phone call and in practice appointment. Sydney Paediatrics is the place to go if you need paediatric services and want to leave feeling heard and have an action plan put in place.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Dunlop is warm and professional towards children and parents. I can feel that he really understands about parent's concerns. Dr. Dunlop gave me answers to all my questions in a respectful manner every visit. We are very happy with his fantastic care.

Positive experience: Dr Dunlop cared for both my new born children in 2015 and 2020, he may not show a lot of emotion but that has nothing to do with his impeccable experience and advice. He does care and is happy to take time with you if your child requires it. I appreciated his advice and non judgemental approach - which is so important for a new mother!

Pam Sweet 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Dr Scott Dunlop has seen my son from 6 weeks of age. He was very quick to confirm my own suspicion that my son had reflux and I found it quite amazing that he could see the symptoms just by looking and listening to my son. It was quite a relief to have treatment right away and not waste any time searching for a dr who would listen (as I’ve heard of others needing to do for their children). I highly recommend dr Dunlop and the admin staff at Sydney Paediatrics.

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately Dr Dunlop had to reschedule our appt at the last minute however his front of house staff were super efficient and friendly and we didn't have to wait long. At the appt, Dr Dunlop was friendly and spoke to Master 8 about why he was there and provided advice for him to follow and got him to explain to us what he needed to do. Thanks :)

Fantastic experience: We have been seeing Dr Dunlop since 2011 with all 3 of our kids and he is amazing. From helping diagnose our eldest with Dyslexia, providing strategies to manage our middle child's strong cheeky personality and various other issues over the years. He is direct, a wealth of knowledge, is always on time, appointments are long and I have never felt rushed and most of all, he has made a positive impact on our family with all his advice. I highly recommend Dr Dunlop.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop is amazing … he is calm … he is polite … he is easy going …. I had Dr Dunlop with my first child but he wasn’t available with my second … I was so relieved to be able to have him with my third! I trust Dr Dunlop with my children’s health!

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop at Sydney Paediatrics was so quick to fit me in when my 3wk old was having lots of pain. He worked with me each wk to find the problem & anytime I'd ring up to say she wasn't better I'd get an appointment the next day. That's unheard of in the usual world of Paediatricians. We now discuss her dosage via email together - big help when you have multiple kids at home to bring to appts otherwise.

Fantastic experience: A friend of mine recommended Dr Dunlop to us when my daughter was having some behavioural issues recently. We were able to get an appointment quite quickly which was amazing! Dr Dunlop was great in our initial consult- he didn’t sugar coat things and was very direct. In my opinion this is exactly what we needed! He gave us all of the information we needed to make an informed decision regarding our daughters care and was more then happy to answer any questions we had for him no matter how trivial! He even gave me his email so that I could email him with any other questions I had moving forward! We then made a plan for our daughter moving forward one that we were all very comfortable with. Dr Dunlop treated our 6 year old daughter the upmost care and respect, he was very sweet with her. She really liked him. All of the staff at Sydney paediatrics have been fantastic nothing has been an issue! I would highly recommend Sydney paediatrics and dr Dunlop.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop was the Paediatrician on duty when we had our daughter at St George Private, I found him extremely reassuring and helpful. He was low fuss and very easy to deal with which was exactly what was needed after a long labour and not much sleep! When booking my follow up appointment, admittedly I saw a few negative reviews online and was a bit cautious booking my 6 week consult with him. I am so glad I proceeded with him, he was lovely to deal with and again, very reassuring of all my ‘first time Mum’ concerns at our 6 week check up. My daughter also had a few minor issues which he worked with us to rectify easily and quickly. My suggestion would be to take online reviews with a grain of salt- they can be so damaging to people and businesses. Personally, I found Dr Dunlop and all his staff an absolute pleasure to deal with! Couldn’t speak more highly of my experience and will go back to him if at anytime I require his expertise again. Thanks Dr Dunlop and team :)

Fantastic experience: I had seen several doctors that prescribed many medications/antibiotics for my then 10 year old and nothing was working, it wasn't until we went to Dr Dunlop who was very thorough and finally was able to treat my daughter with over the counter medications in consultation with another practitioner that resolved her symptoms within a few weeks. I actually appreciate Dr Dunlop directness with the kids and he doesn't just talk to the parents as if the kids aren't in the room. Both my kids have been seeing Dr Dunlop on and off over the years and I have certainly recommended him to friends and would continue to do so.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop has been treating my children since 2007 and has always taken the time to discuss their issues in full detail with me and answer my questions and concerns completely. I have never felt rushed by him to quickly “get in and get out”. I would happily recommend him as a paediatrician.

Fantastic experience: Scott and the team at Sydney paediatrics have been amazing! I have been going to them for the needs of my 3 children over the last 5years. Scott was fantastic supporting my twins through terrible reflux and amazing with my eldest son recently when he was diagnosed with ADHD. The support, strategies and help I have received has been outstanding and I wouldn’t look any where else. Thank you team!

Fantastic experience: Personally, I would ignore the negative reviews. I have been extremely impressed with every interaction I have had with Sydney Paediatrics over the last 12 months (I even emailed my GP to thank him for such a wonderful referral). Dr Jessica Roediger is absolutely charming, extremely professional and just had the most beautiful and reassuring style in getting to know our son. Thank you so much!!

Fantastic experience: Dr Dunlop is an outstanding paediatrician. One of my children has a serious medical condition. Dr Dunlop guided our family through the initial diagnosis with care and understanding. At all times I have felt confident that my child is in safe hands under his care. Dr Dunlop always takes the time to talk directly to my child - to explain what is happening and address any concerns my child may have. Our family has continued to see Dr Dunlop for a number of years. As the mother of four children, I deeply understand the value and importance of having a highly skilled, professional and kind paediatrician - Dr Dunlop is all of these things. I am so thankful that our GP originally referred us to Dr Dunlop - I could not recommend Dr Dunlop more highly.

Positive experience: Dr Dunlop was thorough and highly professional. Felt confident in his expertise when he was reviewing my newborn daughter. Those who are commenting on cost need to understand that these are pretty standard fees for a Sydney based paediatrician.
