Fantastic experience: My partner and I stopped here on our lil road trip, and had such a yummy coffee and brekky burger to start the day (would recommend!). The staff were lovely! Fantastic experience: This cafe has been a wonderful haven for us ( as we were spending everyday with a parent who was dying ) . We spent each day with a beautiful start n great tasty nutritious brekky in a lovely quiet atmosphere opposite the golf course. Staff were gorgeous n welcoming. Coffee was the best.

Fantastic experience: One of my favourite Coffee stops in Forster, super friendly staff serving consistently good coffee. Enjoyed a casual brunch there this morning with my partner, the pictures say it all. Special mentions go to Michelle & Chris who always remember me by name, vehicle and coffee order... and just like Arnold Schwarzenegger... I'LL BE BACK!!!
Fantastic experience: I just want to share how good the coffee at Plung Cafe in Forster is. I have to say, they make the best coffee I have ever had! After holidaying at Coolangatta I tried out various cafes in the area, none of them compared to the quality and flavor of the coffee at Plung. The baristas at Plung Cafe are true professionals and it shows in the way they carefully craft each cup of coffee. The coffee was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of boldness and smoothness. The aroma was irresistible and the taste was simply divine. I highly recommend giving Plung Cafe a visit if you are in the Forster area. Their coffee truly stands out among the rest and you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be going back to Plung Cafe when I'm home. Try them out, they make amazing coffees.
Fantastic experience: This is the best coffee and breakfast cafe EVER! Wow, their coffee is fresh and the kimchi, zucchini, halloumi and egg roll was such a refreshing combination. I can’t wait to come back again! Also - the staff are amazing and incredibly welcoming. 10/10

Negative experience: Great spot and service. A big let down was the store-bought hollandaise sauce, deal breaker unfortunately. For a mid $20s dish, one would expect it fresh, and so they should. Portions were small for the price. Coffee was cold even though we ordered extra hot.
Fantastic experience: This cafe is to die for! The staff are beyond accommodating and always make your experience feel special. Super generous with their servings too. Only fault is that I wish there was more vegan options but maybe I am being too greedy. Up the Plunge <3

Negative experience: Three mates and I sitting at plunge at the moment. Three of us got breakfast smoothies. They're room temperature. A smoothie is supposed to be cold.
Positive experience: Food was okay, not particularly tasty, and small portions for almost $30 each. The 2.25% card surcharge seems excessive. Wish I had read others' reviews before visiting! --- In response to the owner, I didn't know about the surcharge until I got to the till and didn't have enough cash. I've never seen such a high surcharge though, perhaps you should try another bank. Food wasn't unpleasant so there was no need to raise it with staff (and on the off chance that you'd have offered to replace it I would not have bothered waiting). It was just average, locally produced or not. Two dishes, with the optional meat/eggs, but no special requests, milks, etc. were approximately $28 each, which was poor value for the amount.
Hi Hannah, thanks for the feedback, I'll adress everything for you. The surcharge is what the bank charges us so we pass it on. You can pay cash to avoid this, there is a sign at the till. We get lots of comments on how tasty our food is as we use local produce, seasonal foods and our customers often comment on how much the love it so I'mnot sure what you ate so i cant help here. Did you speak to us on the day? If the food wasn't tasty they just tell us on the spot and we can help out, as we are always happy to help. There's nothing on our menu that is $30 so maybe you added something? Had sides? A milk alternative? We are always hospitable to our guests so please come talk to us next time. Hope to see you again. Negative experience: A clean store and friendly staff, but the portions were disappointingly small. Overpriced breakfast items. I visited with a party of 4, and each of us were underwhelmed with our food. It was definitely not worth the price.
Did you speak to us on the day? We weren't aware of this. Such a shame you weren't full. We make our portions to suit an average person, some people need more and some need less. If you have a big appetite we have a generous sides selection.

Negative experience: One of the worst coffees I’ve had in Forster. Bitter with a dirty after taste and overly milky. To top it off the large size is closer to a small. The small coffee was like a baby chino. You will get a better coffee from maccas avoid this place if you want a decent coffee.
Oh wow Chris, I'll try and address every part of your complaint, here you are: That's rare to hear about the milk because we traditionally use less milk than most cafes so our customers can taste the coffee more than the milk (it's not watered down). Usually the complaint is the other way around : ). Next time your'e in ask for a small coffee low tide - this will give you less milk and allow for the flavour to come through. BUT I hear you may need more milk and maybe the coffee was too strong for you if you are used to a large cup. I think that's what you need. The cup size is right at the counter when you order so you can see it and if you are a coffee reviewer than you would be well versed on cafes all over Australia having different cup sizes. Such is life living in a country with CHOICE...we could have given you what you needed had you asked. Our baby cino size is also there which is about 4 times smaller than the small cup size, no parent wnats their child having a huge cup of froth - we do it accordingly. Maccas drive through might suit you better next time - big American over sized coffee cups with lots of milk. Thanks for the feed back it is always welcome,

Negative experience: Average coffee with overpriced food … took one hour for the takeouts to come out will not recommend
Our coffee is loved by the locals and visitors, it's strong and flavoursome, you might be used to larger coffees which have more milk and reduce the strong flavour. Always let us know on the day so we can fix it for you ok : ) You also arrived in our busiest time not just this year but EVER according to National news reports. Negative experience: Charging $6.75 for a large coffee (which is the size of a medium) on a public holiday, mind you not be able to sit inside & minimal seating outside in a takeaway cup. Get real Plunge.
Hi Kim let me break it down for you SIZE: The cups are on the counter right where you pay so you received what you requested. P.S. Australia has this beautiful thing called CHOICE, we are a lucky country so this allows each venue to have different sizes to offer our customers, no two are the same (just like peoples coffee order) so always check especially if it bothers you when you don't get what you assume is on offer. COST: Public holiday rates are double time and a half so we add the standard surcharge across the board to pay our staff in alignment with Fair Work Australia. COST: Freight prices have tripled in 2022 COST: Coffee prices have risen in 2022 COST: Staff wages have gone up in 2022 COST: Packaging prices have gone up in 2022 SEATING: On public holidays we are a take away venue only as the costs are too high to seat people, we would have to raise the price even more to cover staff wages. BUT our amazing staff do pop somr seats outside for those who really want to sit and drink coffee. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS - I am so happy for you that you have a job that allows you to take public holidays off, what a joy. Our industry does not do this as we serve the public, make them food and coffee as they always need to eat and drink, just like you. We are as real as can be, Happy New Year
Fantastic experience: Went here as I was gifted a voucher from a local paramedic and let me tell you the food was amazing! I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast and an iced mocha, they were superb and probably the best scrambled eggs I’ve had out The staff were super friendly with their service, greeting me and being professional and a guy waved goodbye to me haha. Not to mention the layout is such a vibe, facing the golf course. Highly recommend, support the locals folks

Negative experience: Style wins out over substance at this cool bar-come-cafe. I stopped in on a Sunday morning for a coffee and croissant, yes it was busy but despite lots of staff running/ standing around there didn’t seem to be an abundance of output. It took a while to be served (inexperienced counter person) and when I finally did place my order, another lengthy wait ensued before the coffee arrived. Despite ordering and paying for a large coffee, what arrived was not only NOT a large, but quite a bit a bit smaller than average in size. As I soon discovered, the milk was verging on burnt and the drink was too hot. Given the time elapsed since my arrival (at least 15 mins) and the long queue at the counter, I decided to cut my losses and concede that perhaps today was just the wrong day to visit this establishment. Needs to improve.
Hi John, did you speak to the staff yesterday and voice your concerns? It sounds like your time wasnt enjoyable and to rectify this a quick chat always helps, no one wants a burnt coffee. Yes you had a first timer on the till and we support young people learning in the industry to train them and give them employment. Negative experience: the burger was soggy and everything was undercooked and it had tomato and onion which wasn’t said about on the menu, not to mention me and my partner bought 2 protein smoothies with both half full and not blended well and it was very awkward it felt like all the staff were staring at you made me want to leave

Thanks for letting us know, next time tell us straight up and we can address it on the day no problem at all. The smoothie is served in an oversized cup and filled to the same height each time, it isn't to the brim to make sure it doesn't spill. It is a thick smoothie. That must have felt horrible to have people staring at you, I'm sorry if it was uncomfortable, It's a shame your experience wasn't great. Please speak with us straight away if there i a problem next time
Negative experience: Came here for breakfast food was soggy and undercooked not to mention there was tomato all through my partners burger that was not supposed to be there the protein smoothie we ordered for $9 came half full and under blended staff members stared the entire time we ate felt like they were wanted us to leave the whole time tables were empty and full of left over food and staff were just standing around. altogether was not an enjoyable experience Response to owner; My thoughts on the food has nothing to do with the work place I worked at as when I did work there it was a very friendly environment besides that the food yesterday was awful and these excuses of “the smoothie was served in an oversized cup for no spill” is wrong as I know you guys are supposed to fill them more then half way as yes I did work here especially when we’re paying $9 There is no excuse to serve a soggy undercooked burger with things on it that aren't mentioned on the menu as that’s a safety thing for allergies and intolerances.
Hi Lilly, good to hear your coming back into your ex place of work after being let go, you must love the food. Next time just mention to staff about the tomato and they will sort it asap, always best to deal with things straight away so you can enjoy your meal. The smoothie is served in an over large cup as to not spill it, it's measured and poured just like when you used to work here. Hope the next time you visit you say hello and the experience is more enjoyable.
Negative experience: Brought a turduken vege pie and ham and cheese croissant and coffees takeaway. The pie was probably the worst pie I’ve ever had (couldn’t finish even half of it). Big chunks of raw cauliflower and capsicum and even smelled a bit funny. Usually the pie’s from here are good but I’ve noticed the last couple haven’t been. The croissant was cold in the middle and had no seasoning so we had to heat it up and add salt and pepper. Very disappointed but on a bright note at least the coffees were good. ##In response to owner’s comment: You ask everyone that gives you a bad review if they said anything to staff on the day which is a joke when you get takeaway food. Do you expect the customer to go all the way back to complain? And if you are serving takeaway you should put salt and pepper (that’s called seasoning ) on as no one carries salt and pepper around with them. You don’t seem to worried about the substandard food being served you seem more interested in making excuses.
Oh Ian that pie is a fav, I'm not sure what happened the day you came as its popular, did you tell staff on the day? Not sure what seasoning you put on a croissant but we bake them in house and serve as requested with jam, butter or ham and cheese then let customers add salt and pepper to their liking which is on the tables Thanks for the compliment on the coffee, it's locally roasted and people love it.

Positive experience: Coffee great. Ask for two medium take away coffees one with two sugars & cookie. Got two small coffees with no sugar in one & was overcharged on the cookie. Cup sizes not explained being no medium size ??nor was the surcharge on eftpos & cookie charge was a guess??
Hi Jo, Cups are on the counter as you order right in front of till. There's small and large, no medium. Did you query staff about the charge? if you were charged incorrectly and mentioned it straight away, staff would have rectified this for you. Eftpos has a surcharge as most restaurants as we get charged by the bank so pass that on, you can always use cash if you prefer. There's a sign on the till and before you pay the screen tells you what you are about to be charged.

Positive experience: Generous servings. Poached eggs are cooked perfectly. Having pineapple chutney on toast is a new experience but it is a little too sweet for my liking. The sweetness of jam liked chutney seems to overrules flavours of avocado. Tomato chutney might be nicer. Chai tea is ok, not the best. Try haloumi roll. Nice atmosphere being away from centre of town. Perfect place for eating outside looking over golf course to chill out on weekends. Music is a little over the top.

Positive experience: Coffees are delicious but the takeaway cup sizes are noticeably smaller than other places. This photo is a side by side comparison of the largest cup size at Plunge and a ‘normal’ large from another local cafe. Plunge coffees are more expensive despite being smaller. They’ll also add a sneaky surcharge to your order if you pay with any card.
Hey Jordy, You're right the cup size is smaller, this is to ensure your coffee is not watered down. Same amount of coffee just a touch less milk so you get the best flavour from our quality beans. There's no surcharge, just the standard fee most cafes pass onto customers for paying with a card as that's what the bank charges us and there's a sign on the till to let everyone know. It's tough we know and hospitality venues across Australia do this. Just bring cash to avoid paying that fee at places and you can save some cash. Thanks for coming in.

Negative experience: Not a lot of gratitude from the staff given you're paying $5 (plus the cheeky surcharge on the eftpos) for a fairly average coffee (not to mention the cheeky 3/4 sized cup that's called a regular size) Response to owner: Staff never bothered mentioning surcharge. Good of you to ignore the 3/4 size cup you guys call regular. Your overall attitude exemplifies the lack of gratitude your whole business has for its customers - the ones actually paying you. We notify everyone there is a surcharge for eftpos like most places, as we get charged for every transaction. Fantastic experience: My husband and I absolutely love the cafe, so we hired Heath and his team to cater our wedding. It was the best decision we ever made! Heath was so great to work with, the food was absolutely phenomenal and nothing was ever too much trouble. Fantastic experience: Amazing food and coffee. We had the haloumi roll and the bacon and egg roll. Both tasted delicious and fresh and I'd recommend to chose their handmade chutney. The photo doesn't do justice. The place is funky and very calm. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this cafe :)

Negative experience: This place is good or terrible. Fine experience yesterday and terrible today. Our order was lost. When food arrived the halloumi was uncooked and covered in grease and my bacon which I asked to be extra crispy was cold and barely cooked. After waiting 15 minutes the bacon was returned cold and in the same uncooked state. It’s clear the cook in the kitchen and the wait staff don’t care at all about customer service.

Positive experience: Arrived around 1pm and all pastries have run out. So ordered Mexican pulled pork and Turkey bacon toasties which warmed the starving stomachs but need a bit wait. I won't say service is friendly - no menu provided on table and was asked to grab one from neighbouring tables which have been occupied already

Negative experience: Friendly service. Got the plunge smoothie and the steak sandwich with bacon. The steak sandwich - paid $22 for a rather disappointing meal. The steak on the sandwich was about the same size as the bacon which is strange because on the menu it says it is a scotch fillet. I think that for $22 the meal should come with a side of chips or a salad at least. Not particularly good money for value. Disappointing really. Might try something else next time.
That's a shame you felt that way, did you speak to us on the day Brett? That always helps with concerns. The sandwich isn't $22 it's $18 if you add bacon it's $22. Positive experience: Nice coffee but very dirty tables, we had to ask to get our cleaned. Other tables were just dirty with food remnants etc , we were there for around 45 minutes and no one bothered to clean them. Seemed to be plenty of staff around but mainly kids. Not a good look during these times. Have been back since I posted this review and the cleaning issue is no longer there. Only doing takeaway at the moment and I can understand why with staff availability.
Hi Kim, thanks for the feed back, glad you loved the coffee.You came in on the busiest day we have had all year as our town is a tourist town and has been flooded with visitors since restrictions have lifted which we are grateful for. As you may know hospitality venues in rural areas are understaffed due to COVID affecting many people and we are doing the best we can - I am glad you pointed it out on the spot as that always helps staff at venues rectify the problem straight away. Negative experience: As a real foodie this was a horrible disappointment. Waited well over an 1hr for waffles with bacon and a plate of scrabbled eggs and bacon. The waffles were terrible they had barely any flavour, the bacon was the only good thing on my plate. It took 25mins to get a tea and coffee. The tea cup was filthy and they had to re wash it. The plate of bacon and eggs was ok but the bread was horrible to cut. No wonder they gave a steak knife with it. No water to table service, no service to table except to push you out so they can have the table.
Hi there, as you may have found we have free filtered water system for your convenience with jugs and cups available - you can have as much as you like. We use locally baked sourdough which gets rave revues and always needs a real knife to cut, not a butter knife, the bread has no preservatives it is fresh and crunchy. I always like to rectify a problem on the spot, so next time you are visiting us or another venue please just voice your concerns on the day and I am sure it can be dealt with. You have visited on the busiest week of the year to a town which has been hit by COVID and in the same week restrictions have lifted for most of NSW. This means most hospitality venues are understaffed or closed and our guests are coming in fast from all over the state. We pride ourselves on our quality produce and talking with our customers so it is always good to hear feed back. We are not a table service venue, or a fine dining restaurant but we are foodies so it is a shame your experience made you feel this way. Hope to see you again soon and your experience can change. Fantastic experience: Late lunch date 2day...so we decided to take the Plunge, get a quick bite to eat & a great coffee.. Steak Sandwiches.. very tasty, great combo of flavours. Service was great, staff are lovely & friendly. And the coffee was just as I would have made it myself. Definitely be coming here often. I regularly visit the pharmacy, always a gathering of people at Plunge. Now I know why.

Fantastic experience: The Halloumi roll was a blessing from heaven. I've never had anything this delicious in a while. The panini had pineapple jalapeno chutney in it and the vegetables chosen was a perfect mix of nutritious foods. This roll is perfect for any vegetarian looking to get a balanced meal (with a good amount of protein in it). I would have taken a photo but the food was too good and I couldn't stop myself from eating it. Would recommend this local Forster cafe to anyone!!! :)

Fantastic experience: Had the green toastie and it was super delicious. Perfect breakfast choice if you're sick of avo toast (like me) :P The layout of the cafe is very nice and welcoming

Negative experience: We came to this Cafe on Saturday, we walked in and noone greeted us the girls where too busy gossiping then to service holiday people. We waited 10mins and decided to walk out and give our money to another cafe . We went to rat coffee shop in forster 4 times that weekend and maybe your staff should go there and learn customer service .
Hello, oh what shame to hear about your experience. We don't have a matredee like a restaurant as we are a cafe. Our staff are always at the counter for you to speak with when you make your order. I'm glad you found somewhere to eat ut ice not heard of rat cafe, where is it? . We have a beautiful town and love serving visitors, see you next time you are visiting.

Fantastic experience: Great coffee. I ordered the Plunge breakfast. Although the scrambled eggs were a bit dry, the bacon was well cooked and their version of a hash brown/croquette was delicious. I also tasted a vegan nut chocolate cookie. It had a hint of nutmeg. Fabulous!

Thanks K, the secret to our chutney - our mum makes it and has been for nearly 20 years. it is a gem isn't it. You can now buy it by the jar at the cafe
Positive experience: Pleasant all round. Pleasant service, pleasant atmosphere, obviously popular with locals though a bit out of the way for most beach visitors, pleasant outdoor seating (indoor also available), and coffee came promptly. The deli platter was great and rest of menu contained enough variety to suit most.

Negative experience: Good food and coffee when it comes. Waited 30 mins for coffees and 40 mins for food. No menus, staff really inattentive and overwhelmed. Had to help some older customers clear their table so they could sit as the staff left them alone.
Hi Michael, that's a shame about your experience, please let us know how we can help next time. The menus are on the walls and windows printed quite largely as we can not have menus on the tables due to COVID, it limits the spread of germs and we find it is the best possible way to help stop the spread as per the governments request.
Fantastic experience: Wow, this was a great find. The café itself is beautiful to look at and be in, and the food and coffee were both fantastic. The menu was diverse and inclusive, and was much fancier than your average café menu! You can tell the owners/management put a lot of love into this place. So glad we visited :)

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, good coffee that opens early for those of us who are early beach go-ers (opens 6am). Beautifully decorated inside- can't wait to try the meals on the menu soon.

The interiors are decorated by Blue Dust Collective - which now have an art gallery inside the cafe - only just opened up a couple of months ago, there is a big glass window and separate room out the back.. Fantastic experience: Heath and the team at Plunge catered our wedding and did an exceptional job. The food was incredible and all our guests are still raving about it (particularly the lamb) and the service. Leading up to the event and on the night itself the service was amazing and helped make our day special and stress free. The entire team is so personable and the food was such a highlight of our day. Fantastic experience: Best coffee for 100km radius. Great every time. Good cakes and food too. Great atmosphere. I wish other cafe owners from around Forster and Pacific Palms would check this place out. If you can't make consistently good coffee, don't call yourself a "CAFE".
