Negative experience: The gym floor needs more up to date machines. There are no cardio bikes which is a basic standard for a gym. Booking a morning Pilates class is next to impossible. If you are not up with the sparrows it’s impossible to get into a class the following morning. It was obvious there are too many members for the classes offered, therefore they could provide the service I was paying for. The Pilates wait list policy is a JOke! You can’t cancel a class within 1 hour of the class so if you are added from the waitlist at 1 hour & 5 min & don’t see your notifications, you are unable to cancel and get charged $10 no show feee. I was charged this fee twice without any notification. I asked for proof & they just sent me something generic. Could be a good gym but need a better process to retain members and provide more value!

Negative experience: As a brown woman, I strongly suggest not attending the pilates classes run by Sandra. I have only seen her interact and speak nicely to white women (east asian women have also had pleasant interactions with her). In her classes, I have felt that when I don’t have the correct form, I am made to feel stupid whereas this treatment does not apply to other white women. Very recently, I was 5 mins late to her class and she told me that I am not allowed to enter the class. This treatment has never applied to white women who have been more than 10mins late. Highly recommend other instructors like Laura but Sandra is a walking red flag. I am unsure why Fernwood employs racist staff - either do a staff training day to teach staff to treat everyone equally, update your app to indicate who will be the trainer for that session (personally never attending any of her classes) or never employ people like Sandra.

Negative experience: I quit fernwood 8 years ago, and they’re still sending me spam promo via text and emails. I’ve told them not to send anymore or else I’ll report to ACCC and it’s still happening.

Fantastic experience: I've had a very good experience with Fernwood Rockdale. The gym is clean, large and a pleasure to use, the ladies are very friendly and the creche staff make a huge effort to look after my toddler and keep her happy so I can work out.

Negative experience: GOOD LUCK TRYING TO CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP, THEY ARE SO DESPERATE FOR MONEY I WOULD NEVER JOIN FERNWOOD FITNESS AGAIN

Negative experience: The customer service is inferior. I emailed them, but getting a response took a long time. They double-charged my membership fee of $198, which I already had as a credit, and then charged me again. Dealing with these problems is exhausting, and it keeps happening all the time.

Negative experience: I recently injured myself and have had to have reconstructive surgery on my knee. Fernwood did put my membership on hold, which was great, however, when I asked to downgrade from pilates to a regular gym membership (as I can't participate for another 6-9 months), I was told to pay $100. As a full time university student and my inability to work, I asked if this fee could be waivered because of my circumstances. I expressed that I wanted to return to pilates as soon as I am given the all clear, but still it did not make a difference to them. Because of their lack of empathy, understanding and consideration I will be quitting once my contract is up. I don't mind the gym, but I wanted to write a review for all women to read prior to joining. If something out of your control happens, don't expect them to be accomodating. There are better gyms out there.

Lori Fusion Pilates @ Fernwood Rockdale This was the message I received without mentioning any terms and conditions that came with the free Pilates class but apparently it’s only credited towards the membership fee if you do sign up after the “free” lesson.

Negative experience: Very very poor service

Positive experience: I’ve been a member of Fernwood Rockdale community for a few years, the gym not only helps me to stay fit but also gave me the opportunity to build strong friendships. All the trainers are awesome and they offer different classes one of my favourite is boxing with Kat and cycling with Jenny. I did Pilates as well for two years there and the trainers are amazing specially Belinda, Sandra and Kishori.

Negative experience: I made the mistake of an online inquiry after speaking to them, realise the gym was not fitted for me. I have called them a number of times and they continually try and sell the gym ever since I’ve got my phone number they have not stop sending me text I do unsubscribe randomly get tax blocking them does not work. They are harassing don’t give them your number

Fantastic experience: Kishori's reformer pilates classes are seriously the best part of my week. She's super attentive, gives personalized guidance, and is so passionate about what she does. It's not just any ordinary class, it's like a total game-changer for your fitness goals. Seriously, it's amazing!

Fantastic experience: I recently joined this gym. Really impressed by the classes and instructors. Very high quality instructors who manage to bring so much variety to their work outs. Lots of options for Pilates reformer as well as FIT30. It is one of the best gym experiences I have had. They also have crèche facilities which is fantastic for the weekend or holidays. Nice and friendly staff and clients too.

They are literally scam, the people who work there are super deceiving and not trustworthy they will ask for your credit card info and just take out your money. HORRIBLE AND THE WORST GYM EVER! Negative experience: In response to your message Alex. I understand that the contract terms and conditions cannot be modified, and I acknowledge the existence of a cancellation fee. However, I would like to emphasise that a contract works both ways. While I understand the need for such fees, I believe it is important to consider the circumstances that led to my decision to cancel.

Negative experience: BEWARE OF THE FAKE REVIEWS! Funny how all the recent good ‘reviews’ are either from a male or a fake account with bad grammar and repeated lines. It’s so obvious! Not only are these gym workers money hungry but also extremely deceitful and lack integrity. Instead of fixing the multiple arising issues that have been going on for ages, they pay someone to give them ‘good’ reviews to falsely lead people into thinking they are a good gym. Hope anyone reading them can read through the lines and not fall for it!

Negative experience: I've been going to this gym for just under a month and in such a short time I'm already disappointed. I believe that the high cancellation fee is on purpose so that no one cancels, as it is very tempting. The service is only good when concluding the contract but they don't know how to retain customers as you can see, I don't use ANY service at the gym and I only use the equipment and scales, however, I went to use the only scale that was available but I was informed that we shouldn't use it because it would have to be done as an assessment or use the one in the bathroom (which by the way isn't there) in short, either you pay a $25 assessment, which is the same price for the week, or you simply don't weigh yourself, they always want find a way to take money from people, since I understand that there are certain things like the scale that should be included in the monthly fee, because I'm not requesting any service, I just want to know my weight and I don't need an assessment for that. The service is terrible, there are devices that have been in need of repair since I arrived and there is not even one of the main machines, which would be the extender. I think there are certain things that can be compensated, but I'm sure this is not a concern for the administration here.

Negative experience: I have been working out at this gym for a little over a month, and I have not been satisfied, before I joined the adult chair was already bad, and to this day it is bad, I have never seen a gym not have an extension chair, a friend and I went to weigh in today, and they called our attention because we were wearing tennis shoes, and that if we wanted to weigh ourselves we would have to pay 25 dollars to do an assessment and find out our weight. I've never seen anything like this, and it's absurd that we can't weigh ourselves. I was already forgetting, when we were there trying to weigh ourselves, two women came to talk to us, thinking if we were stealing something, and not to mention that they do everything they can to take our money, as if we were taking money from a tree.

Negative experience: The gym is rubbish, it doesn't have enough equipment to do a good workout, I had to be told by the staff that I had to buy the accessories at Kmart, I tried to cancel before the contract expired but there was no one at the gym and the next day I They informed me that it would have to be via email because there is no system for canceling at the gym. I am still trying to cancel today and they still want to charge me more than 400 dollars. I referred a friend and they said they would give me a month for free but now that I canceled I can't see the free month they promised

Negative experience: Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at a gym..or anywhere in fact. (Just have a look at the tone of their responses to the negative reviews on google and you’ll see what I mean). Admin Staff speak to you like dirt as if they’re doing you a favour allowing you to use their gym. I received a text asking me to go in and sign some paperwork, got there and the staff said she couldn’t be bothered to get it and that I can do it another time…on another occasion I went in (it’s meant to be 24 hr gym) I got told to leave and questioned “haven’t you seen the sign we’re closing at 9”…no email or text message received re. this but they try to gaslight you into thinking you’re the one in the wrong not knowing this. They use manipulation tactics like blame shifting, gaslighting, and passive aggression to your face. Their email responses are rude and often don’t address the issue you’ve highlighted. Or they just ignore you all together. Pilates fan was broken for years. Many pieces of equipment routinely broken and broken for many months. Their best trainers often leave. Often can’t book in to classes due to demand from them giving deals to new customers. Loyal customers are treated the worst. I called and said I want to cancel and if they could remind me what the policy is and they told me to write to them…no one responded that day to my email so they are trying to make me pay an additional 2 weeks on top of the 300 dollar early contractual exit and 4 weeks payment from the day of my email because they’re not accepting my initial email as notification due to my wording not being exact…jokers. They value money grabbing, manipulative business practices. Total disregard for ethics or integrity. They need basic customer service and accc training. They rely heavily on the terms of their contracts which seem pretty harsh and oppressive to me. They will use anything they can to squeeze an extra dollar out of you when you try to leave. There’s so many great gyms in close proximity to this place shop around before signing up no one deserves to be treated like this by a service-business.

Negative experience: This is a shocking gym. The equipment is so outdated, uncomfortable and squeaks and doesn't go through a smooth range of motion when using it, its equipment I would expect from a gym in the 1900's. In a vending machine, they retail a single pad for $2.50. For a gym that is woman's only, you'd think there would be a bit more compassion and understanding for ladies when its that time of the month. Other fernwood's have these for free in their rest rooms which are always stocked up and don't try and squeeze everyones last cent. The management are rude and not compassionate towards personal issues and are solely focused on the money thats coming in, opposed to their clients health and wellness journeys Save your time and money and go to another franchise, Rockdale fernwood always has a hostile vibe in there. Fantastic experience: I recently signed up for a membership at this fitness club but due to personal reasons, I had to cancel during the cooling off period. The staff (Lori) were incredibly understanding and refunded me, only taking the cooling off period penalty, which was a huge relief. Their understanding and willingness to work with me was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this fitness club to anyone looking for a supportive and understanding environment.

Negative experience: I don’t recommend anyone signing up at this gym. It’s disappointing that this holds the franchise name of Fernwood. As I have visited other Fernwood gyms and was shocked by the outdated equipment and some equipment doesn’t work at all and to the point of it being unsafe, the place smells mouldy, roof leaking water, air-conditioning barely turned on in summer, some staff are rude and I don’t feel welcome, parking is terrible, every week I go there are different staff members, high turnover of staff, the Pilates instructors change Constantly and some don’t come back, I don’t understand how it’s called a gym with barely any classes compared to other Fernwood gyms. It’s so disappointing as it was close to my home, I don’t understand how this is under a good name like Fernwood.it sounds like a very common theme now about the owners of this gym, with what I have just read below, I don’t understand what’s happening there. No other words, just sad..

Fantastic experience: Training at Fernwood is incredible. After many years away from the gym, training here has been the perfect reintroduction to the gym environment. It is a safe place for woman who want to work out without feeling the pressure of 'insta' hot fitness standards. There is a good range of equipment and great pilates classes, in particular the small group classes. These classes feel tailored to your personal needs, particularly after returning to exercise from injury. I really hate to see woman bring down this business, particularly when it seems to always be about money and contracts. It's clear the previous customer's don't want to hold up a contract's standards and of course those sort of people want to complain about this so I hope people reading this can see that too as I would hate for those sort of people to sway your decision about joining this club. Rockdale Fernwood has been a blessing back into my life, a place where I did not feel I had to be instagramable, but just me, tackling my fitness goals.

Negative experience: I had seen an ad on facebook for hypoxi and reformer pilates took myself to the address and was quite confused it was Fernwood. As I was about to leave my car I witnessed 2 policemen enter .. I got even more confused. Headed back to my car and decided to google reveiw. Thankfully I did!! I was about to get conned and probably get stuck into paying a contract that will result in some miscommunication and then say I misunderstood, the fact they advertise not using the gym name had me suss as to why? Their website state you get breakfast free but customers said that wasn't true .The machinery in pics look nice and new , reviews say everything is grubby and outdated. Additionally the way someone responds to reviewers was scary maybe that's why the police were there?! The staff member names people and discloses financial agreements on the internet.Isn't that like a breach of privacy? Also,something I found weird was that staff members were reviewing the place? This place scared me . I am just looking for a safe haven this sounds nothing like that. Read them reviews people!!!! I thankfully found a pilates place down the rd which had great reveiws will be checking out soon! PLEASE don't passive aggressive tell me off now and link me to to ppl I don't know.Just giving back to the world because I was saved.

Negative experience: So unfortunate that this gym holds fernwood as a name- recently moved to the area and was looking to transfer my membership over and to my disbelief the gym itself is very outdated and the staff are unprofessional. Prior to this, I had done my own research and heard a couple of things from the general public. I wanted to be objective in my judgement and check out the place myself. Fortunately enough I was not surprised, since I had no expectation, to find that the owner “Kathy” was quite disdainful and dismissive in approach. I believe she needs to be reviewed by Fernwood as she is tainting the name of other great Fernwoods- actually do everyone a favour and leave :)

Negative experience: In all my years I have never seen such a vile owner/Cathy of a gym, mistreats her staff, psychologically torments them, mistreats her members, rude, arrogant and cares for no one's well being. Fernwood should force her hand to sell her franchise as this does not represent other franchises I have been too. There is currently a group coming together to approach Fernwood head office to sign a petition for Cathy to sell the franchise and put it in more capable hands. We are members and your behaviour was deplorable, following my partner to her car and threatening her directly saying "watch your back and watch your families back you don't know who my family is", while my 3 year old son was crying feeling frightened. I tried to contact you and you ignored. We will not accept threating physical behaviour to members. We will be taking this further. We have witnesses from your gym including staff, all your old members are finally coming out and expressing there anger of how they are being treated, my partner was a member for 13 years, she had no issue with anyone. All new negative posts are completely unrelated to us. I offered to talk with you on the phone but you refused, so we will discuss here.also we contacted the police I have the evidence and we terminated the membership. I will give you a chance to remove her name otherwise I will be contacting my barrister as it is illegal under Article 17 and privacy Act 1988 " The prohibition on interference with privacy and attacks on reputation prohibits unlawful or arbitrary interferences with a person's privacy, family, home and correspondence. It also prohibits unlawful attacks on a person's reputation. It provides that persons have the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks." "It is a criminal offence to disclose protected information without authorisation. A breach of protected information is punishable by a maximum of 2 years imprisonment."

Negative experience: I wish I had read the google reviews on this place, even the responses on google reviews from the owner are so rude. It is seriously the biggest joke of a club. I have had the worst experience at this club. The equipment is old, classes get canceled if there isn’t enough participants and honestly that’s if there is a class scheduled at all. 1 boxing class a week at 7pm and really the only constant class is Pilates/ reformer Pilates. I would not recommend this gym. Go to another Fernwood club or another Gym altogether. The owner, Kerrie is extremely rude when it comes to canceling memberships and although I injured myself to the point of not being able to drive, I wanted to put my membership on hold but very quickly realised that I wasn’t going to be working out anytime soon so I decided to cancel. I have lived in many states and had contracts with many gyms- I have never paid a cancellation fee as there is always a valid reason BUT not with Kerrie, there was no sympathy and said “as per your contract you must pay the cancellation fee of $200 plus a 1 month notice period which was another $95 per fortnight” $400 total later in fees… a complete joke, no humanity.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for years and honestly love it. Such a great environment to train in and be apart of. The Pilates is amazing, highly recommend and the staff are all such lovely and beautiful people.

We create our own community in Fernwood and encourage women to their fullest potential. If you haven't tried our classes I suggest you should! Fantastic experience: Don’t know why this gym gets a lot of hate. Prices are reasonable and matched with most gyms. The Pilates is an honest game changer and so enjoyable. Staff are also great and friendly. The only thing I’d recommend is upgraded gym equipment. But you’d still find most things you need. I highly recommend this gym to all women.

Fantastic experience: I have been a instructor in fernwood for over a year now and have been very impressed with the quality of the facilities, the friendly and helpful staff, and the wide range of classes and activities offered for the clients. Its a very good platform for not only for all ages, but also for all levels of fitness ladies. They have variety of classes and equipment to offer which includes fiit30, pilates, reformer plus, yoga, zumba, cycling, mat pilates and so many gym equipments. For me its a win-win. The equipments are always in good working order, and the staff is always willing to help with any questions or problems. I have seen clients enjoying the variety of classes offered, which allows them to stay motivated and challenged. Also, being a women only gym, you get to meet like minded ladies to have conversations while doing workout. So your physical and mental health is also being good. Overall, its a very good club offering everything under one roof. Glad to be a part of this club.

I’m back now after having a baby and the staff have been so welcoming and supportive in helping me restart my health and fitness journey!

It’s 24 hours which is amazing, they have a crèche from 9-11am which no other clubs in the area offer, there are ample options of machines, friendly staff and great classes, they offer Hypoxi and parking underneath. Fantastic experience: I joined Rockdale Fernwood for a couple of reasons initially, because I was looking to start a family and knew that I wanted to continue Pilates in a supportive environment. First reason was I enquired online and visited the facility in person. At the facility I was looked after an exceptional individual, who also showed me the full facility and explained the different types of membership available to me. Secondly, I observed an instructor during their class, and realised that there were awesome instructors who make working out fun and support you during the class. I have not looked back since I have joined. Best part of being part of the gym you make some incredible friends too, you're really joining the family and can embrace and leverage off the support. Another bonus for me is creche is available for my now 10months old, which enables me to work out without worry about who will look after him.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place! Only one only women's fitness club in the area , which gives a great feeling of support. I went to heaps of different fitness clubs and I should confess I feel much more confident and myself in Feenwood. I am happy to take my 10-month-old with me in the morning and leave him at creche for an hour. It's as great for him as for me: he has chance to interact with other people and kids while I am fully into my well-being and fitness. Overall, it is worth it!

Positive experience: In my opinion the positives are: Reformer pilates and friendly class instructors. Negatives are: that the membership staff say there will be a new coffee machine but it never happens. It is advertised on the website that free breakfast is provided so this perk would have been nice if true.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this female only gym! It is fully equipped and open 24/7! The HYPOXI sessions are a game-changer for targeted fat loss - between this, gym sessions and adding more vegetables in my diet, I have lost around 10 cm around my waist. They also have lots of reformer Pilates classes during the week, and each classes leave me feeling stronger and more flexible. The staff are supportive and friendly, and it is always a welcoming atmosphere.

I absolutley love being a part of the staff to help and encourage women with there individual fitness goals and I enjoy training there just as much! A range of different types of classes with amazing and experianced instructors. Negative experience: Please read reviews before joining. I have been very disappointed with the service provided. While joining the membership the lady talked about the how much I was going to get charged weekly and how I have to pay $79 for the key access. But didn’t gave or said information saying if I left the gym I will be charged 4 weeks and then another $200 as cancelling charge fee. While calling in the phone they clarified as it was signed in contract and these information needed to be inquiries by customer as it’s customer’s duty. People wants to join with flexibility. Felt very rip off.

When we were signing up and collected our tags at the gym we were not told we could apply for a less amount to be charged for injuries. We did tell the lady I was injured and she just provided us with a cloth. I went to the gym last year. Yes I signed up in 2021 but was attending in 2023 also. I had canceled my subscription this year. Hence my review. My membership was under Coriander Taulafo

Negative experience: Dishonest business! They charge you with fees you never signed on. When we asked twice on where the fees are on the contract and in which clause they didn't answer that because it's not there. My husband posted an HONEST review about it.

Negative experience: Dishonest business, flagged on NSW Fair Trading ! Wanted to charge me 49$ non key return fee which is not mentioned anywhere on the contract, i never signed that anywhere. Negative experience: Very bad experience here.. gym itself and facilities are okay, however how the admin lady handles issues is disgusting. Has no care and empathy for members, they only care about money this business makes. While canceling my membership I requested if cancel fee can be reviewed based on my situation to which admin lady responded saying “why are you telling me this”. I was shocked to see her response to my email she’s so rude- honestly if I could leave a 0 start review, I would.

Negative experience: Apparently, they don’t care how the customer feels. I cancelled the membership two weeks before the last day and they charged me another two weeks membership fee without any explanation. And a few weeks later they charged me another $49 for not returning the key fob, which I didn’t any any notice at the cancellation. This is the rudest place I’ve ever known. People I trained with and the trainers are great. I feel sorry they have such a bad customer service. And they really don’t care, worst experience ever. Enough said, there is a reason why this Fernwood rated below 3 and all the others rated around 4.

Negative experience: Not only is this the worse gym. It’s the worse gym chain. Terrible communication. Too expensive and rude workers. I started and sprained my ankle. The gym had no empathy and would charge me anyways. Don’t waste your time. There is plenty other gyms and more affordable. This gym chain will rob you and only cares about money.

Positive experience: I am surprised by the kind of reviews. I walked into the gym, had an excellent conversation and signed-up for reformer pilates. Unfortunately, I got a notifciation from my rental agent the same day, suggesting there's a huge rental increase due to which I called the Gym if I could cancel my membership as I wasn't sure which area I would relocate to. The staff was very cooperative and easily accepted my cancellation within cooling off period. Not just that, they advised me on how to deal with rental changes based on their personal experience. 4 stars because I haven't had even 1 class and cannot comment on that experience.

Negative experience: This is the worst gym I've been. Air conditioning doesn’t work when the reception is unattended, which makes 24/7 a big lie as we can’t exercise with no air at all (windows are locked and there is no fans). Furthermore, the gym is dirty, old, not enough machines and last but not least overpriced. Bad administration.

Positive experience: This isn’t a bad gym, despite many 1 star reviews, most of which don’t seem to understand how a contract works. I would say it is pretty average, hence the 3 stars. I wish there were certain machines, e.g., a stair master which my previous gyms all offered, and the showers aren’t the cleanest (definitely need to review the frequency of cleans/change cleaning companies). The building itself and facilities are quite dated as well. However, being a 24/7 gym this certainly suits those with a busy schedule and being a women’s only gym, I am a lot more comfortable here. I can’t say much about the staff as I typically attend after hours, however, there was a lovely girl who assisted me with signing up. Further, they sometimes give clients free protein bars etc. to sample, which is nice. The website mentions that breakfast is included, however, this is not the case and I was pretty disappointed by. Apparently this is due to COVID? Perhaps updating the website is in order… Happy to discuss further! Just an honest review

Negative experience: If you’re looking for classes for Pilates don’t bother here. You’ll be fighting literally every morning when the app class booking opens to book a class as they are in such a high demand, the earlier classes at 5.30 especially, and not enough space at this gym to accommodate people wanting to do the Pilates classes. 11 people per class max. Very stressful and frustrating. You will miss out on multiple classes even though you pay membership. They need a new venue with at least double the capacity of reformers, split in two with two instructors. Or a solution to expand the reformer room and add double the amount, especially for early afternoon classes. The more people that join up, the more we will all miss out on having a spot in the classes. I have also spoken to a few members that advised they have been asking for earlier classes in the afternoon but management don’t seem to do anything. Same stressful chaos for the morning classes. They don’t listen to what members want. I find this dismissive attitude very poor. They charge enough in ridiculous high fees, so I’d like to see them pay for more instructors and additional afternoon classes. Also don’t bother calling, you’ll never get through, it just gets diverted as there is a mobile number up on Google page and not the studio number, no idea why. Rudest owner and bad management, chaotic and not managed properly. Just look at the owners replies on here and you’ll see. That’s my honest review if you’re interested in the Pilates side of things, the more that join, the less classes you will get into, especially as the demand will go up in summer, and it’s already a show, every time I’ve been there, the gym is dead so there’s no issue with the actual gym. My honest review. Since management won’t listen, I’ll share my honest experience with who ever is thinking of joining. About $200 to join, once you join NO getting out easy!! $50 if you do not go ahead in your 48 hour cooling period, which I’ve never heard of and is absolutely ridiculous. $75 if you need time off because you are injured or sick!! If you need to freeze your membership you need to pay $5 per week every week!! I’ve never heard of another gym charging this! $100 if you want to transfer your membership to someone else. This is just an approximate indication of the ridiculous fees they charge. I’ve never seen a gym charge for so many different fees. Not a good gym overall.

Fantastic experience: I've been with this gym for about 14 years now - not bad for someone who avoided going to the gym because they felt self-conscious! I love working out in a female only gym that allows me to always feel welcomed , safe and never judged. Enjoy it so much, that both my daughters work out with me at Fernwood Rockdale too! A gym for women of all ages and all fitness levels.

Negative experience: My experience aligns with the numerous other negative reviews of this gym. Also, note the passive aggressive tone of the responses from the gym to the reviews; in private, this translates to bitter passive aggression/just plain aggression. They showed a complete lack of empathy, understanding, flexibility or agility in product and we’re happy to take my money for never actually setting foot in the gym. They made significant mistakes in their administration and took little to no responsibility. I’ve been to many gyms throughout my life and understand how contacts work but this gym, have left the most revolting after taste in my memory. Enough to be bothered to come here and write this. Yuck.

Negative experience: AVOID. I cancelled my membership within the 48 hour cooling off period. As a point of reference, I had been happily with the Parramatta Fernwood for over a year, but I couldn't stand two days at Rockdale. A member of staff I encountered was very rude to me and the gym itself has poor equipment; had a sewerage smell emanating from the bathroom; no frills showers etc. But really, it was the rudeness of the staff that did it. All one needs to do is read their replies to the people leaving negative reviews on here. They are nasty and unprofessional. So I cancelled my membership. However, they continued charging me fortnightly membership fees via a bank account direct debit. I wrote to them asking them to stop debiting my account for membership fees after I had cancelled. They told me that although they are aware they are incorrectly debiting, they won't make any changes during the indefinite Covid lock down. Hence, I had to contact my bank to cancel the direct debit. They then have the balls to charge me a 'direct debit failure fee' for a debit that shouldn't have been taken in the first place. I have gone back and forth with a Jessica Drummond from, I assume, the Fernwood credit department, who doesn't respond to emails for about 3 months at a time and when she does she refuses to acknowledge the issue and just says the whole amount is payable. I have agreed to pay the cancellation fee but asked her to remove the incorrect debit failure fee, which she refuses to do. AVOID. IN RESPONSE TO Fernwood ROCKDALE's reply: I referred to the staff at Rockdale gym AS WELL as Jessica Drummond whom I mention is from the credit department. The sewerage smell was indeed present when I attended and was part of the reason I cancelled my membership. I agreed to pay the cancellation fee and the ridiculous charge for using the gym over two days. If you read my review the issue is in regards to ROCKDALE continuing to debit my account for membership fees AFTER I cancelled during the cooling off period and refusing to stop the debits citing Lockdown as their reason. Jessica has informed me that ROCKDALE want to proceed in charging me a debit failure fee for an amount that should not have been attempted to begin with (previous amounts have been refunded but somehow they don't fathom how a rejection fee for prevention of one of those invalid debits should also be refunded). This has now gone to Fair Trading NSW. Rockdale is run by a nasty group of women who don't care about their members and their responses to people on google reviews reflects this.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member for a month now & I'm incredibly glad I joined. The reception staff are always very kind & friendly to me and the trainers are spectacular. Kat is amazing, always getting you to go a little longer or harder than you think you're capable of to help you achieve the results you want. Magda concentrates on getting techniques correct so you can increase your weights as you go. The gym has women of all ages & all fitness levels. I was initially very hesitant to use the weight machines but after doing the "on boarding" class I now feel confident using them all by myself. There's a real sense of comradery in the gym, everyone is supportive of one another. The creche ladies are lovely & I feel safe leaving my child in their care. Fernwood is very considerate of the local community & are having extra classes at night for the duration of Ramadan. Come give them a try & see for yourself.

Fantastic experience: I love Fernwood Fitness Rockdale Especially the reformer Pilates, Fiit30, and Boxing classes. The attention, passion and motivation that I get from each instructor is second to none. For the first time in forever I am excited to go to the gym, knowing I have women there who are equally motivated for their and my own achievements. I love Personal Trainer Kat the attention and dedication she put into each class and it’s individuals is the main reasons why I love Fernwood Fitness Rockdale.

Negative experience: Poor communication, not enough pilates instructors therefore not enough classes, unable to book over the app and when you want to speak to staff you are told to go on a Facebook page and online to read instructions on what to do. Really poor customer service. System for booking was not working on the day when I asked to be booked in advance it was refused and I was told to go on Facebook page and read instructions on what to do, when I said I was in the centre and wanted to resolve the issue while there I was told I am harassing staff and staff was instructed not to book me and to ignore me. I had to leave only because no one wanted to speak to me about the issue I am having for the past three days. Should I continue to pay $60 per week for the service I am not getting?

Positive experience: Good bunch of pilates instructors and awesome HIT & pump & yoga trainers.

Negative experience: A good way to judge a gym is how easy it is to cancel. This gym was really hard to cancel and they were largely unresponsive. I signed up for this gym during lockdown as they had a deal for the pilates section. The sales person was persistent and helpful. I figured contract will be a normal contract for a gym etc. Anyway then suddenly before lockdown finished my husband was relocated to Canberra for work. As I had just signed up I figured like fitness first they would have a 14 day cooling off period. But nope it was just pretty much no cooling off period despite the fact that the gym wasn't even open! So no cooling off period and no access to the facility. I also want to point out there is a $200 cancellation fee as well as two direct debits. So basically I had a three month contract for $300 and ended up not setting foot (because of legal regulations) once in the gym and still being charged $300 to cancel. Buyer beware. Fitness first has far better terms and is a similar price! I should have read the reviews first! Edit 1: I received no follow up calls noted below and called them over 5 times leaving messages and sent numerous emails…Also I’m not sure what ‘private’ financial information I am sharing… your contracts are not top secret, I didn’t sign an NDA and as far as I am concerned none of this information financial exposes me. Its helping other people. Edit: 4 months after cancelling I found our these guys are still charging me!!! Oh my goodness for a gym I never actually set foot in! Be so careful guys!!! This gym is basically a scam. I will be lodging with the ombudsman most likely as they probably wont even care when I raise it with them. On a side note when I moved away I was about to transition from. crunch rockdale to fernwood and Crunch was really easy to cancel, one email and they took care of everything- no extra charges or anything. Highly recommend Crunch rockdale if you live in that area.

Fantastic experience: Simply love visiting this club when I am in the area, the workouts and classes are next level. The staff always remember my name, I always leave feeling accomplished in my workouts and cant stress enough how clean and top notch the facilities are. A great workout space! :)
